What ever happened to Quik Shine and Moose Wax?

There prime product pimps must have been asked to stop posting about them all the time on forums. :dunno I never got a chance to use them. Whenever someone only has good things to say about one product line and it is the only line they talk about, then it always makes me a little wary. I got turned off from them on Autopia and never really had any desire to use it after that.

It seems that #80 has replaced VM and NXt or 4*UPP have replaced MW. What say you?

Actually, Quik Shine is still around and very popular. It's still my favorite quick detail spray. Moose Wax (the original) was always a cleaner wax and I can't think of anyone that "pimped" it non-stop. It was never claimed to be the miracle product s many others out there. It is a decent cleaner wax and that's about it.

Vanilla Moose is an extremely popular product and is used under a variety of products and toppers. Carnauba Moose Wax also has a strong following. It gives a very wet look on black and red.

Four Star UPP is not a wax, it's a sealant. It isn't a "replacement" for Moose Wax. They are completely different products. UPP looks very nice on top of Vanilla Moose. Many people have tried and liked that combo.

As anyone who follows the detailing forums should know by now, there are many products that go through cycles of popularity. When any product gets good reviews, there is bound to be negativity. Look how many people hate Zaino just because of the number or raving lunatics praising it all the time. Klasse gets good reviews, but people have to whine about SG application issues. NXT was massively hyped and didn't meet the atmospheric expectations.

There are many excellent products out there. Not everyone is going to like one product or product line. It is bound to happen. Does it make it a bad product because it didn't meet their expectations? I don't think so.

I still use VM a lot but I also don't post too much about my process anyway. I use the products that I use and get rid of the rest. I stocked up on VM cause I often have to do details in the sun and I love the results that I get from it so.....

VM is a good glaze I use a lot. Like was said above it's great on windows also. Poorboy's new product Spray & Gloss has just made QuickShine obsolete for me.

I don't ever remember ClearKote products being pimped hard on here. In my humble opinion Vanilla Moose and Carnuba Moose Wax are excellent products. I've used Moose Wax on door jambs and other obscure places and have been very satisfied with it's results. When I do a full detail Vanilla Moose is a must. To me on white PwC + Vanilla Moose + Ex-P + Carnuba Moose Wax is the best combo I've come acrossed so far.I haven't used the QuikShine so I can't opinionate on that product.

I'm gonna have to try this combo, as I like all of the products mentioned. Never thought to use them together. VM is a must have for me. I have also tried Moose Wax (the cleaner wax). I think it's good for rims, but there are better products for paint, even from Clearkote itself. The VM/CMW combo is killer on red.

I use vm and follow it up with ex-p and have awesome results. I have used about half of my bottle so I will be ording some soon from scott. One thing I like about it is no matter how thick or thin it always comes off with ease. Plus it works REALLY well with a PC and a white pad.

I just purchased both last fall and I really like both of them. I haven't used the VM on any paint yet, but it's awesome for smooth trim and glass. It really gives the black trim a deep gloss. It's very easy to apply and remove - wipe on/wipe off.

I also like QuikShine a lot. I bought that and a bottle of Poorboy's quickshine at the same time and I prefer the Quikshine for ease of application. It comes off easier than the Poorboys. Admittedly, I don't know for sure the correct application steps for PBs quickshine, so that was probably one of my problems. Anyway, CK's quikshine did leave a nice shine afterwords.

I *need* vanilla moose in my line-up. It has the best glazing/swirl-hiding capabilities i've seen yet, and I don't want to always polish my car. It's just too hard to keep a black daily driver truly swirl-free because I don't want my weekly washes to be a complicated surgical procedure. Most of the time I need to be able to wash and finish up in 30 minutes, and vanilla moose allows me to do that while keeping my car looking decent.

Quikshine has always been my top choice for qd, and lately i'm finding that it's pulling farther and farther ahead from the rest of the pack. Recently I have been using it on glass as a follow-up to a regular glass cleaner. QS leaves the glass very smooth and clear.

MW is a strong cleaner wax that can be used out in the sun. The biggest downfall is that it's quite expensive. I have yet to find a replacement for it for when i clean up beaters for friends.

I think that #80 replaces VM when you want some swirl removal. VM is great if the paint is already in near pristine condition.

But since I haven't gotten around to getting rid of all my swirls and water spots I usually VM the unfinished parts of the car and just top with UPP and #16 until the winter.

Lately, all I've been using are Poorboy's and Clearkote products. For what it's worth, I've called Everette Glass at Clearkote numerous times regarding questions I have about his products. If I can't get my questions answered here or else where, what better place then to go to the source. Everette has always been nothing but a book full of info. Heck, I don't even know the man personally, and he doesn't know me, but he always seems to be willing to take his precious time and guide me through what could be considered some pretty newbie/in depth questions.

As others said thats comparing two completely different products. I don't think there was ever a craze or fad for MW. I know VM is very popular for its many uses and I've only read(a lot) of good things about Quik Shine. Just because they aren't talked about here, doesn't mean they aren't used.
