What else do I need to buy with my new 7424xp?

I am about to buy a 7424xp kit from 3D that will include a backing plate, 3-5.5" pads (brown, green, red? I'm not sure by the picture...) and 16oz HD Uno and HD poxy.

My plan for this is to help me shine up my wife's black car with light swirls, and my new silver truck.

My concern would be the pads, how many pads do I need to do 2 vehicles?

Thanks for steering me the right way. Also, I would prefer any product recommendations to be 3D related. It just seems to be the best value for a hobbiest.

Thank you for your advice tdekany, but I should have been more clear.

What else do I HAVE to purchase in order to start buffing/polishing my car. Do I need pad cleaner, extra pads, something else?

Again, not looking for showroom, I just want to have what I need to moderately correct my car, and properly maintain (apply LSP) in the future.

Thanks.

More pads at minimum - as Thomas said, at least three for each color, but more = better, since you'll be working cleaner and spend less time cleaning your pad between sections.

Assuming you are going to attack all vehicles on the same day, you'll need a polishing pad and a finishing pad per vehicle assuming you don't have any heavy-duty correction in front of you.

I wouldn't get too tensed up over what you have and what you don't have, Mr Strokes. It's better to get some real-time machine experience and add a couple things that you believe will make your life easier as time goes by. We all start off with a couple pads, many of us ultimately have more pads than we can account for. I still buy things that seem popular, but have a box with new pads still in their wrapper sitting in my basement. Go figure ;)

I added a couple flexible backing plates. Many are enjoying the newest MF pads by Meguiar's. I got a couple of those, too. Make sure you have the correct counter-weights for the machine. Try to do some additional reading here, figure out what will be of value to you.

You may be surprised to learn that the machine + few pads + Uno/Poxy combo is possibly going to do all you want. In fact, it will likely revolutionize your outlook when it comes to caring for your vehicles. :)

Enjoy.
