What else beside IPA

Car pro erasure, panel wipe, ???????

I'm over the drying effect of IPA and scratching effect that happens when doing it. looking for a new product. Provide a link to a product if possible please.

No link handy, but Top of the Line sells a product called Akrya Klean (previously called PrepWash) that I like for this.  Works much better for me than IPA.  It's not supposed to need it, but I rinse after using the stuff.

The PN for a quart bottle is HT806QT

Don't know if he is still using it, but Barry recommended a mix of IPA and HD Window cleaner--

16 oz of HD 50:1 HD Window Cleaner (already mixed)

8 oz of 70% IPA

8 oz water

Meg's glass cleaner, but still has some issues common to alcohol. Use reverse osmosis water for any of the mixes.

yeah, Im looking for something that doesn't dry out the paint.

I use megs glass cleaner, and it works pretty well without drying out the paint like IPA (for softer paints like Ferrari black or bmw black)

erasure is the shit, just very expensive, but not as expensive as re-polishing the car I guess.

what is the name of the product people are using that is a machine applied coating prep?

IPA is a very dry solvent, no lubication in it. Maybe a little Mineral Spirits (more lube) mixed in, would help.

Or wash the car with a prep wash, alkalie, after the polishing session. This will take car of all the residues after the polishing session, including all the

dust that could have found its was into all the crevices and etc.

We buy it by the gallon(well, more like 5 liters at a time) and it's a perfect fit.  We burn through 5 liters over the course of about 2 months. When you break it down per job it's not bad at all at maybe about $5.

You guys actually think ipa dries the paint in the little time it lingers as a liquid on the surface or are you going on the TOGWT unproven theory?

I only use a little Meg's Final Inspection, most of the time I don't use that. The waxes I use and even Menzerna Power Lock don't seem to required an alcohol wipe down before using. I wouldn't try that with Zaino though, that is why I quit using it.

Richard Lin, creator of Black Wow, also developed Slippery IPA and it's really nice. It's a gel you mix with your own IPA (saves has mat shipping) and from my testing, it's perfect for pre coating prep without the worry or reintroducing marring from the wipe down.

Not as much due to drying, but I know it can cause swelling for a fact.

i'd sure like to see the the testing the proves this. IPA flashes so fast i don't believe unless you kept a soaked cloth on the paint for a longer period that it could do this. Never mind a quick wipe with a 50/50 mix of 70%.

A 'quick wipe' of 35%'ish IPA 65%'ish water isn't always enough to remove oils. I do not flirt with leaving anything to fill.

My testing would consist of observing light marring disappearing and then reappearing. You can take my word for it for whatever it's worth.

For the record, I said it could. Not that it absolutely would. I still keep iso/water mixed in a bottle for usage. But I don't lean on it 100% for paint correction oil removal.

Can't say I've observed Eraser cause swelling.

Since the majority of the cars I do get Opti-Coat Pro I just use the Primer and I'm done, no more IPA and worrying about marring. For CQF jobs I''l use Eraser and for wax sealant jobs I usually just wash the car and don't worry about stripping unless the product specifically states it needs a squeaky clean surface. For my test spots I still use IPA/Eraser.
