What do you use to completely clean the paint to bare clearcoat after Polishing?

Thanks Guys.

I was debating getting either CarPro Eraser or Griot's Pre Wax Cleasnser. But In the end I ended up ordering Hi Temps Prep Wash based on TOGWT's advice and write ups. Shipping was a doozie but I got the gallon size. Will update you guys on performance once I use it.

But before I use it, any tips?? WOWO or WO-rinse off etc??

Maybe Accumulator will pop in, he recommends it and has used it. But I believe there are is a new and old version as well.

Yep Luke, The new version is Green and goes by the new name "Akrya Klean ." Said to work bette as well. I believe you were also looking for a good (post polish-prewax) paint finish cleaner too. Did you end up deciding on a product?

Because I do have Power Clean I will be foaming, dwelling, powerwashing with that.

I'm late to this party, been away....

is Hi temp's Prep wash (Silicone & Wax Remover) safe to use on paint repeatedly during every polishing session? Over time can it harm the finish?

I've used it a *LOT* on some vehicles and I've never had any problems at all. I'd go with it instead of, well....anything else. OK, OPC is good too, but when polishing I use PrepWash and then, if necessary, wash the whole vehicle with OPC or TAW.

PrepWash is supposed to be a W-O-W-O product, but I rinse with distilled or DI water.

Oh, and be sure to let it dwell long enough.

Thanks Accumulator,

BTW, what's "long enough" to remove 1) Polishing oils/residue and 2) old wax/sealant to prep for a new wax?

Thanks

Unfortunately the only real answer IME is "it just depends".

With M205 oils I've had to use PrepWash a few times to get things truly clean. To strip some LSPs you might be there all day.

The instructions say to let it dwell... oh, I can't remember....a while. I let it dwell at least that long, and really I go for "as long as I can before it starts to dry". FWIW, I've never had any issues from actually *letting* it dry, but you're not supposed to do that so, well...you know.

It's surprising how tough it can be to get things off/out of certain paints! I mix the PrepWash a bit stronger than recommended and just keep at it until I'm satisfied that everything's the way I want it. Sorry I didn't have a more cut-and-dried answer.

Ya know, Ron Ketcham might say to just use ValuGard New Car Prep, and I've done a quick wash using their "A" and that worked well for me.

i just received my Akyra Klean from TOL. Rats! Should i have gone with Valuguard new car prep? Is it better than akyra?

IS their "A" something different than VG new car prep?

Yes, A is significantly different than NCP. NCP is a safe solvent, A is the alkaline neutralizer from the ABC decontamination system
