buda- I generally go for brushes when I'm "scrubbing" (oh man I hate that term!) but I can see the mesh-covered pad being good for some surfaces....have to give that a try, so thanks for mentioning it. Don't think I'd want to use it on my leather, but then my leather never really gets soiled either.
Let's see.. hard plastic/leather/etc. interior surfaces...
I don't use my steamers for as many things as some people, but they *are* very handy for areas a) that are otherwise inaccessible to cleaning media, b) textured in ways that make even brushes hard to utilize (think...heavily soiled significant texture but of a fragile material where "scrubbing" to get the bristles into the low spots would be ill-advised), c) soiled with something that will emulsify well when steamed, and d) that require "high pressure blasting" without excessive moisture.
Gotta watch it though, I've melted synthetic carpet fibers with a steamer, and I wasn't being careless when it happened.
Like David Fermani I use a wide assortment of brushes, from stiff plastic bristles to a variety of natural-bristles ones. Gee, I must have...oh I simply don't know how many!
I use lots of towels, both white cotton and MF.
Chemicals (usually use, have others): Griot's Interior Cleaner, PowerClean, P21s TAW, LeatherMasters cleaner (got two different strengths), stuff from Roger Koh, even some old Tony Nancy Leather Cleaner, Meguiar's Interior QD, 1Z Cockpit Premium...and I'm probably forgetting something.
Haven't tried my 3D stuff yet, but I suspect it might replace some of the above.
Headliners- MINIMAL MOISTURE!! Foaming spray heads and Griot's Interior Cleaner for almost all headliners; I'm kinda paranoid about causing damage. I've sometimes used stuff like Stoddard Solvent for stains, but you gotta watch it or you'll get a "ring". But again, even with the dog-haulers my headliners, like my leather, never really get soiled. I sympathize with you Pros who have to deal with nasty problems :bow
