What do you use to CLEAN interior vinyl before adding protectant?

Vinyl isn't particularly difficult to clean, is it? I've always just used dishwashing detergent.

That works good too especially if there is no 'ground in' dirt. Thou sometimes you cant even tell if there is some ground in stuff.

For me..if im going to do a FULL interior...i use the APC+...love how it leaves the surface TOTALLY dirt free and lets the dressing go directly to the vinyl. For inbetween cleans dishsoap is great with warm water. I use the dishsoap too when i use the APC to dip my MF or Terry towel in and then wipe the APC off.

I wish i had taken pics of this horrible rubber trim on the chevy express i've been working on. It had set out in the sun for over a year (arizona sun)...looked like hell...but APC+ to clean and Hyperdressing to dress it worked perfect.

Did the same on the inside which had vinyl and worked just as well.

Lexol leather care folks make some great stuff for vinyl and rubber - Vinylex - cleans and protects in one step - Vinylex. (I haven't found it to be quite as glossy as the photo in the link - although it will gloss more with multiple coats)
