I guess you pay a lot more for it than I do then. 40-50 wax jobs from a $15 jar is pretty economical.
You guys have to remember that S100 would probably cost us here about $20 to $25, landed cost (after shipping and maybe taxes).
Other things to consider (these are general figures)
1. Minimum hourly wage here is US$0.68 (68 cents per hour).
2. A friend of mine with an MBA degree working for a multi-national firm here in Manila has an annual wage of about $15,000. And this guy has an MBA.
3. Local 3-step detailers (mostly from the Meguiar's bandwagon) charge about $30 for a full three step (Meg Power cleaner using rotary, DACP with rotary, Meg 26) for a toyota corolla sized car. A Ford Expedition 3-step would be about $45. And to think that about 3-4 people (with their 68 cents/hour wage) work on your car for about 4 to 5 hours....
4. El-cheapo car washes (guys with power washers) are about $1, and $2 for the higher end places. I don't trust these guys with my car, but that's the competition theveed will have to face. In other words, he has a huge task of EDUCATING the public first on correct washing and detailing....
5. A "wash n wax" service offered by professional detailers here (not the hand applied wax) is about $4 to $6. Using S100 and Scottwax reknowned thriftiness on the product, material cost would still be $.50, plus wash, plus water, plus labor... theveed would have to charge about $10 (yes, for US based people that is still ridiculously low), and would price himself out of the competition.
6. Car to person ratio here in the Philippines is much lower than the ratio in the U.S. Then, factor in that only few people like really clean cars, and fewer still recognize the need of professional detailing, and you see the market is small.
Ah, living in a developing country...
