DJ, does this work also with a PCXP or is it not powerful enough? Tried the blue pad with 85rd, but it seemed to not do much of anything and left a lot of smearing on my paint. I've seen folks use it with a black pad on PC so now I wonder if the PC/blue pad just isn't enough to break down the 85rd. TIA
 
M105/M205/OPS - for polishing/paint cleaning.



Followed by:



Optimum Opti-Seal followed by Optimum Instant Detailer on my white cars. Very slick, very sharp & reflective.

Zero experience with either PO85RD or the blue pads (other than the blue Sonus 4" ones on my Cyclo), but I've heard that some polishes just don't work well with the blue pads.

On my own dark blue car I really like Meg's #7 followed by either Meg's #26 or the new Gold Class Carnauba Plus wax.

Honestly, that would sound about right. When I use 85rd I only use the Makita. So perhaps the black pad with the PCXP will have a little extra bite you are looking for.
 
for a head turning shine i start with 1500 grit.....then 2000 grit then buff it out with m105 then m205 then i use wolfgang sealant then i use megs NXT......now thats a head turning shine.....

Hey, that's worth noting- doing super-duper jeweling/etc. on ss isn't always worthwhile. It's just *different* from b/c and IMO it looks "right" when it exhibits somewhat different characteristics.



I deliberately skipped the final burnishing (and chose my final steps/LSP carefully too) on my pal's repainted '60 Jag because its b/c repaint woulda looked too "21st century" for concours purposes.
 
Mine was Regency/Magnolia.



Yes, IMO SS paints shouldn't be too mirrorlike. Sometimes even acrylic LSPs can look completely wrong on them, because they often have silvery "ghosting" from flatter angles. Subtle, deep LSPs with good optical gravity is the best on them. Good old oily glazes too.



On contemporary finishes my recipe for a really head-turning shine is a wetsanded, orange peel free surface, perfected a couple of times with a functionally nonabrasive pad and the finest finishing polish - with only a QD on top.

Not by looking at it no. Thats still low for that year. I can't always be driving my car, I'm a lil crazy that way.

I'm sure you're not the only one around here. In the last 2 years I've put less than 500 miles on mine.

I urinate on a paper towel and wipe the car down with it, that turns plenty of heads.
