What do you think of this mobile detailing station?

It bolts into a cargo van and provides electricitiy, water tank, pressure washer, and plenty of storage for bottles, waxes, equipment:

I much prefer an in-van unit to a trailer, as trailers are hard to park and carry a theft/vandalism risk.



Seems like a durable unit. Anyone know of other in-van units on the market?
 
IDK, just seems a little steep on the price....you can get all the items for about 2-3K then have something built inside your van for about 1K most likely....its nice that its already done, but price seems a little high

Ditto.



Just my trailer (open utility), PW, generator, tank, & reels cost me around $2,000 (all bought seperately).



Trailers are awesome if you get an enclosed one. I have an open utility due to weight issues with a vehicle I had. I no longer have that vehicle, so I'm probably going to go back and get an enclosed. An enclosed trailer has the same benefits as a van (security, keeping your equipment & supplies free from weather issues, huge advertising space, attention getting, etc.). The biggest advantages with a trailer is that you can get a very nice one for thousands less than the cost of a van, and when you are done at the end of the day, you just un-hitch it and go. The biggest dis-advantages are maneurvering with a trailer, parking a trailer, and a increase of maintenance you must do to your tow vehicle.
 
I put this together a while ago for about $2800. The configuration of accessories is a bit different now but you get the general idea. I put all the equipment into it that I wanted and it's been great since.



A few things I don't care for with the yellow unit up top are:

-it's yellow

-looks like a lot of weight in the far rear. Careful on the suspension, you know?!

-inefficient use of space on the sides, even a cargo van fills up fast.

-where does the exhaust go? In?!

-looks like fun trying to fill the generators fuel tank.



If it's worth three grand for someone else to fabricate the unit and give you a free vacuum plus supplies, :2thumbs: I had a blast setting mine up.

No. . . the generator and PW vent through stainless conduit that forms a Y about 6" before going through the floor of the van to a rearward pointing exhaust just before the axle. :chuckle: Once I set up a basket fan in the ceiling I will be able to run my equipment for a long while, doors closed, silently without the current furnace effect.

I was looking at the picture of your van and thought, "That looks like Andrew's set up." I then looked at your location.



Guys, I have seen a lot of mobile set-ups- even used to sell for a company. Andrew's set up is top of the line. Very accessible and clean. I refer him regularly to clients asking for a quality detail- did you get the Corbin's cars? Another guy, Aldo will probably call for a few cars.



Anyway, if you have any questions about set up, I would listen to what he says.



Andrew, for the ceiling fan, you can get a good one at Adam's RV. He's a former parent where I teach and that is what I was going to do with my van.

Thank you for the kind words and of course, the referral(s). The Corbins have left to Alaska for the season. Business has been doing well.



That is a great tip for the fan. I have been in there before for various things; they sell Protect-All Easy Wipe in gallons. The van is an ever changing workshop. Some guys mod their cars, I mod my vans interior :o Anything to make thins more automated, you know?







I am going to go clean it. . . two weeks/13 detail-days without an ounce of energy to maintain my own!

Haha! If a customer gave me a van as dirty on the interior as mine, I would be pissed. :chuckle:
