Is this for your own personal use or are you setting up a real business and plan on doing some volume of work? If so I'd say skip the DA and plunge head first into the Makita. It's seriously not hard at all to learn. And it will produce better faster results over the D/A. However if it's just something to dink around with I think you got a decent list going on there.

Looks like you're getting this from Autogeek. I suggest you get this backing plate instead for the 4" pads:

3.5" Dual Action Flexible Backing Plate- porter cable 7424 or 7336 hook and loop backing plate 3.5 inch.

It's molded, rather than glued like the 2-3/4" one. I got the 2-3/4" in the SpotBuffs kit, and it came apart after using it only twice with my PC. I was able to re-glue it and use it on the Makita rotary since with no problems, but suggest you get the other one for your DA.

Also, out of all the 4" pads, personally the one I seem to reach for the most is the 4" LC orange, definitely grab a couple of those, and perhaps the small LC Purple Foamed Wool as well to make sure you've covered your grounds. Perhaps because of your budget, you can get one yellow, and one red instead, to make room for the orange and pfw.

Not sure about how great the Meg's express wax is overall, never used it before. Perhaps someone else can chime in for options that are in the price range available by the gallon.

Its gonna be personal use for a couple monthes (learning), then in 2 or 3 monthes a real business.

The Makita was $100 at a local pawn shop, looks brand new,but who knows? i was just affraid of it taking a dump on me within a month or so?????

As far as the backing plate, ill definatly swap it out, and also add the PFW to try it out.

you think instead of 6 orange pads, I should go w/ 12 for only $9 more?

and the x-press wax was only bought for when we do go pro more multi-car parking lots deals :). Was recommended for the simple wash/wax deals

o yeah with the backing plate you recommended do i still need the DA adapter?

The DA adapter is for the 2 3/4" BP that is designed for rotaries. A number of folks on the board have reported problems with it.

Also, the PFW 3.5" pads that AG sells are too small for the 3.5" BP. Detailed Image sells 4" PFW pads (LC) that will work fine with it.

Do you have any other polishes? The reason I ask is that Megs 105 is a pretty tough compound and you might need something to remove marring left behind by it, or atleast another finishing polish to refine the shine. I know that some people have had good results on different pads, but if it were me, I'd prepare for the worst (marring left behind by 105) and hope for the best (not needing another polish). Poli-seal may or may not be enough to get rid of the hologramming that a compund can leave behind. Just my .02.

I would skip the G110 as well and go straight for the Makita. You won't be disappointed. If you keep the rpms down while you are learning, it is really almost difficult to mess something up. Just keep the rpm at around 1,000 and below until you are comfortable with the machine and then start ramping up your speeds.
