What do you tell your customers?

I've done a couple cars and they have come out great but there is always one or two things that I just can't clean (because they let things sit too long). I think some think I can perform miracles with a PC. I try to let them know that I clean and enhance a car not repair them. I have always been very up front with them about my services. What do you guys always make sure your customers know? On the flip side, is there anything you don't tell your customers?

if there is something that i missed or overlooked, i am more than happy to take care of it. i am always honest as well. if there is something that i might not be able to do much with or something that i do not offer i just tell them.

when someone tracks all sorts of crap into the carpeting and has tons of spilled coffees on it, i can only do so much and i tell them that.

honesty is the way to go :xyxthumbs

Just be honest, I'll usually tell someone if I can't remove or clean something and there usually ok with it. You gotta remember the reason your detailing it is because they neglected it. I also detail on the side, so I'm not sure what some of the professionals do in that situation, but would be curious to know.

I go over the whole vehicle before I start and point out areas that may be in such bad shape I can't guarantee complete success.

Always Scott ! I pre-inspected a 530 yesterday for Tuesday job. I told him (an attorney) i could probably get "most of those briefcase scratches" off the rear deck, but i couldnt get 100% of them.....This BMW will make a great before/after pic for the website!

I hear ya on those trunk lid scratches. Even after telling a customer that setting stuff on the trunk lid was scratching it up, a few weeks later, he set 5 ceramic coffee mugs on it (black S500) and a minute later, dragged them off. Dragged as in you could hear them scraping. He kind of glanced over at me and said "oops, you told me about that, right?"

It is always a good idea to give your customer more than they expect. Under estimate and over deliver. Try to stay focused on the positive aspects of what you can do for your customer's vehicle.
