What do you mobile guys do for water?

For those of you who work out of cars, how do you carry water? What kind of setup can you use to minimize run-off? I was considering a spray bottle with a soapy solution to wet the panel. Then a bucket of wash and a bucket of fresh water to wipe down the panel. Then dry and do the next panel. But on very dirty cars this might not be effective against marring...?

I'm going to be moving to Florida by September and instead of getting another job to make someone else rich I want to start my own mobile detailing business. I do side jobs now and I'd like to do it FT, and what better time to start then with a new move.

My current setup is a 700watt DC-AC converter in my trunk to power my polishers.

Just trying to get the plans together now so I can put together my plan of action.

Thanks for the help

I do it at the customer's house and use their water, garage and electrical outlets. And I say if they dont have that then they can bring it to me and I'll givem a shuttle home and back.

Since you have a jeep, you could easily get a portable water tank that RVs use. Some sort of pump/hose attachment and you can have up to 50 gallons of water on hand (wouldn't want to fill it to the max though). If I go into full mobile, I'll most likely do that, or just go and buy a few $.50 gallon jugs of distilled water from walmart and have a pump sprayer on hand. There's a million combos to use.

Why micky mouse anything. Buy a truck or trailer and get a min 50 gal tank, buy a water reclaim system and get to work.

Do it right or don't do it at all.

With QEW, I only need a gallon of water per vehicle and since one gallon is less than the two gallon limit where you need to contain and recycle the water, I am in full compliance. I carry around 5 gallons of water with me.

Sorry, been a while since I've been on the board. I updated my sig, sold the jeep a couple month's back, 12-17mpg just doesn't cut it when I can get 38mpg beating on my vw TDI:p The spoils of diesel.

This is what I was thinking of doing. What if you have a very dirty vehicle? What about polishing, you do use a PC now don't you? If I'm correct you use to be a member of HAN and had your own detailers corner, I believe you use to do everything by hand, no?

As far as the DC-AC converter, I keep the car running. I drive a diesel and it has a LARGE battery. I'm not running the polisher for more than 2-3min at a time. Might even have my alternator rewound to provide a higher charge rate. This is just for starters, if I find I need more power I will invest in a portable generator. If I do need more equipment I will install a trailer hitch on my golf and tow a small utility trailer for my equipment. The car has 150HP and 275TQ @ the wheels so towing shouldn't be a problem power wise.

During the hot summer months, I always take along a one gallon jug of water with plenty of ice. With temps well into the upper 90's I always make sure I've got plenty of fresh water. That's what I do for water.

h-a.net? Wow, that was in 1999! I left with OT and Fazle.

I do use a PC now and never had a problem with a customer letting me use their electricity. They don't make their maid bring a generator do they? ;) Besides, I've actually had people ask me when they set up the appointment to use their outlets so they don't have to listen to a generator.

The only time electricity can be a problem is at large office complexes since access to an outlet can be tough or not allowed. I'm trying to find a small generator that can power my vacuum and PC but most are just too big. If you run across one, let me know.

I think I saw Pepboys selling a model that is I believe 2200-2500 watt portable generator for around $230?? I'm not too sure of the quality and performance, but the size is pretty good for those who operate out of smaller vehicles.
