What do you guys use for bright detailing lights? Seen a number of posts with bright square lighting that does a great job of showing the paint progress on a detail. Where can you get some? thanks.

the square lights are Halogens

and can be bought just about any where

Lowes Home Depot, Sears, Walmart, Big lots, ect..................

Note that for swirl-spotting/etc. it's not just a matter of brightness, but rather of the specific type of *contrast* provided by point-source illumination. You can often see more marring under a 60W incandescent bulb than under a few 1000W worth of halogens ;)

i also use a small hand held light to look over work. it's way more mobile than the large lights which i use more for lighitng than for checking for swirls. didn't think of adding that to my last post. I was figuring he wanted to know what lights are used the most.

Just make sure you set them up on a sturdy stand. A friend of mine definitely knocked over two halogens on a big tall stand onto the hood of his freshly waxed NSX...which subsequently became freshly painted.
