What do I step up to after S100?

I've used S100 for a while now and I'd like to step up to something a little bit glossier, deeper, and more durable. Can you guys make any recommendations for me? Going on an '02 Sebring Silver S2000 if it makes a difference.

S100 is a hard act to follow, lookswise. The above mentioned DG105 looks stunning on silver. FK1000P and Optiseal are both great on silver as well. As much as I like Poxy, IMO the look is similar to S100 as is durability.

Eh, I'm all about FK1000P these days, at least on silver and white. Looks, durability, protection..just what I want.

But I can't help but think if S100 isn't working out looks-wise on silver it might be a prep issue. That's a pretty glossy/"bright" wax

This color is a bit darker than your silver, but just to show you the kind of wet finish you can expect on your finish - at this point the car was only washed, clayed, and HD SPEED (combination of HD POLISH and HD POXY) on a white foam pad. I haven't used P21s in years so not sure if you get better gloss with S100, but I also highly recommend HD POXY.

FK1 #1000 has great durability, but look wise you'd be disappointed I think.

On the other hand, HD Nitro Seal will outlast FK #1000/DG products and most definitely look better than S100

Huh, never thought of Nitro-Seal as being more durable for some reason.

I'm trying to be open minded ;) The other 3D stuff I've tried (admitedly a short list :o ) has sure been great, but I've just been so enamored of FK1000P that I haven't been considering other LSPs. I mean... FK1000P is lasting well over a year for me even on (winter-use) daily drivers; I've never used anything like it and that's saying something (not even 6X KSG can compare IME). I don't even bother cleaning off bird-bombs much any more.

I hear you on the look though, wouldn't do the "deeper" thing. Might be kinda an acquired taste, at least on certain colors, and not everybody will like its "signature look".

I hear you, I think I was one of the first one on this forum who used FK1 1000 regularly. Great product. But if I can get way better look and the durability in the same product, I will chose NS.

Thomas Dekany- Yeah, I'm with ya on all this, glad I didn't come across badly.

I'll be watching for reports on NS durability. Lots of variables that can factor in (look how the same products last/don't for different people  ).

After applying a second coat of S100, I believe there to be a big difference in the gloss of the finish, it looks a little bit wetter than with just a single coat. I'll try and get pictures tomorrow night and see if it's just my imagination or if there's a noticeable difference to the eye. Either way, I'll be trying out FK1000P soon and will take comparative photos of that as well.

After reading your post above, I'm going to agree with Thomas. You'll be unhappy with FK1000P. Its not going to look as good as S100. DG105 is probably going to be your best looking durable LSP. Collinite 915 might be ok as well. You have to realize though, you are going to give up some looks for durability.

And here P21s (basically the same as S100, isn't it?) is one of the few products I hated so much that I stripped it off (the Jag)!

I don't know if you saw this thread I started. It states 4 months durability in the title but I've updated the thread and can't change the title.

The update says 6 months but is actually just over 7 months durability shots. It's now 9 months and still doing well - need to update the thread soon!

Remember, this is on a black car that sits outside 24/7.

Here's the link:http://www.autopia.org/forum/car-de...105-nitro-seal-durability-after-4-months.html

Interesting. I haven't seen a conversation involving S100 in ages. I pretty much quit using it and Nattys Blue when I discovered Duragloss. You could almost measure their durability in hours. I've considered laying down a couple coats of S100 and topping it with Aquawax at the next wash, to see if it would leave me the same shine but for a reasonable length of time. Any opinions?

Alfisti- Thanks for the link to that thread...not sure, but I don't think I'd caughtt it previously.

Huh, so the NS is all that, huh?

Hm....how it its bird-bomb resistance? With the FK1000P I don't even bother cleaning them off between washes any more.

With the FK lasting over a year for me, and coming in such a huge tin, I don't expect to be trying another LSP for a looong time, but you NitroSeal users hav sure piqued my interest!

I can't speak for bird-bomb resistance but squashed insects over the nose-cone are no problems. They come off with a jet of water.

The 3 strengths of NS are:

Fantastic looks with insane gloss and great depth

Durability

Dirt and insect release

It really leaves a tough coating. You can actually feel it when you run your hand over the cleaned surface. The surface feels....*thick*, if you know what I mean. When I've forgotten, I can always tell a car that I've NS'ed by that *thick* tough feeling the paint gets.

Alfisti- Yeah, I know just what you mean about the tactile thickness-effect.

Thanks for the info, you've given me some good food for thought (I'd somehow just never paid much attention to the NS for some reason).

Funny thing is no LSP I've used before provides that "tactile thickness-effect" (as you well put it) to the same degree. The closest is perhaps KSG but that feels different again. NS feels as though the paint has been *vitrified*. It feels like slippery glass, whereas, KSG feels like slippery plastic. Does that make sense?

If NS really has the same resilience and contaminant-releasing characteristics as FK1000P, I'm sold. ....you guys are definitely piquing my interest here. Guess I've got some researching to do.
