What digital camera's do you use......

I too was in the market for a camera last year and did "extensive" researh on anything and everything I could get my hands on. I read many reviews and frequented review websites before finding the perfect camera for me. A couple of great sites were already mentioned by a previous poster, dcresource.com and steves-digicams.com. Both are excellent sources of information.

I ultimately chose the Canon Powershot S70. It is without a doubt an excellent camera for someone looking for a little control in the pictures they shoot. It has all the features an avid photographer would want without getting into Digital SLR's. If you are intimidated of all of the features available, just put it in auto mode and the pictures will turn out unbelievable It's a 7.0 megapixel camera that takes breathtaking photos. I can't recommend this camera enough. Do the research and you will find that this camera is right up there in it's class. For around $500, you will get a camera that can last you many , many years.

I definitely would stick with Canon with whatever you chose. Can't beat their quality!!!

Hope this helps!

Olympus C-3030

I bought a C-50 2 weeks ago and broke it my first day out :(

Looking at either repairing it or getting a Canon S500

i got a sony dsc-p73.....4.1 megapixels, 3x optical, movie mode----i believe sony, nikon, and canon produce the best cameras....nikon and canon having the best image quality and lenses, canon having better parts (compare weights of the all 3) and better accesories (again imo), sony and nikon are more user friendly......my *point and shoot* is good, but for example i went to the nyc car show today and took nice pics, but when someone moved in the backround my focus went wacky and some nice pics got screwed up when i pulled them on the computer.....i wish i got the digital elph so i can always carry it because it is that small......my opinion get the elph so u can take it everywhere, then get a digital slr for special events because digital cameras imo are better than camcorders, i used to have a camcorder but never used it, i would use my digi cam everyday if it wasnt so big....funny thing it isnt all that big, just not convenient to carry all day....sorry for the rant:D

I use a Kodak CX6445, 4megapixels, Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon lens, it's got different settings for indoor, outdoor, macro, motion, paid $150 and it's been great, only thing is it's a bit heavy, but a great camera for a non photogapher. Takes movies too.

From today's photo shoot;

I have a Sony DSC-P92 5.0MP.

Kind of wish I went with something with more manual adjustments that wasn't "dumbed down" to the point the Sony is, but it does the job well once you get the hang of it.

Used to have a Sony F717, broke it. Now I've got a simple Canon A75. I use my Pentax k-1000 35mm for any photos that require good quality.

O4cobra those are some nice pictures. It seems that everyone on here use a lot of canons. Ill just have to look more into those. Thanks for all the posts guys, you have sent me in the right direction.:up

I have the Sony 717 and the Sony CD500. I like the 717 alittle more. I like using the memory sticks as opposed to the Sony Mini Discs.

The better Canon and Oly models seem to consistently offer pictures in the "outstanding" category.

There are plenty of good cameras out there. Figure out what price range you need to be in. I have found some instances where you may be better off purchasing a better camera (deeply discounted) that's being phased out vs. the newest model that was just released 1 month ago. There are some tremendous values out there for those who look.

Some of the pics I took of My '02 Maxima were taken with a Nikon Coolpix. The only thing with the Nikon I used was that many pics had a bluish tinge to them and I had to use Photoshop to correct the color.

However, I have also used an Olympus C-2020 and played around with a Canon EOS 10D (I want a 20 D) for more serious photography and a PowerShot G6 for point and shoot.

BTW, I currently own a 20 year old Canon T70 SLR and it still takes pretty good pics.
