What did you do detailing wise today?

12pm-4pm: Weekly wash for my Tacoma.

Wash: 2 bucket grit guards
DG901, ONRWW
Micro Chenille mitts
Dry: Blower and Cobra towels
LSP: Wolfgang Deep Gloss Liquid Seal
Glass: Invisible Glass, Aquapel

4pm-8pm: Weekly wash of Wifes Camry. It has been 2 weeks, aggghhh! BUGS!

Wash: same as truck + Pre-soak of front clip.
Dry: same
LSP: WDGLS on horizontal panels and Zymol Carbon on vertical panels.
Glass: Aquapel application too.

This was the first time I used the WOWA offering from Wolfgang on a whole vehicle. It really does kinda feel like cheating. I can't believe how easy application is! The looks are outstanding as well! The Carbon was a first as well. BFWD was applied a couple weeks ago so I figured the Zymol carnuba would be a nice topper. I was a little worried about the negative stories I've heard regarding difficulty of removal. I experienced no negative results from Carbon. It smells great, spreads evenly and wipes off with ease! I think it looks pretty good too but it was dark by the time I was done. My last Aquapel application was all but dead after 6 months so the windshield and side windows were due. I wanted to go with Opti-Glass this time around but haven't procured it yet. I guess I'm still waiting on durability reviews? I've said it before and I'll say it again..........You professionals out there get nothing but respect from me.........I'm exhausted and never even plugged in a machine!

I forgot to add, wheels and tires were cleaned with Mothers Wheel and Tire Cleaner and Daytona's and other brushes. Tires were dressed with Griot's Long Lasting Tire Dressing and wheels were sealed with WDGLS.

Had a special visitor to inspect the GTC-4 progress.

Yesterday I finally got going on my spring detail and got the car washed and got a start on polishing. Today I tried to finish polishing up to the point the GG 6" orange polish pad exploded but at least I was just about done. I was using Meg's Ultimate polish and it just didn't seem like it was cutting my towel marks so I need to find something better, I didn't get them all out but was able to remove the finer ones but have some heavier ones that wouldn't come out. It sure seems like they go in easier then I can get them out. With the polishing done I was able to get a coat of BFWD on and I like the ease of application and removal and seems it to have left a nice finish. Too tired to move it out of the garage to check it out. Since I also bought BFCS I am going to put a coat of that on top of the BFWD tomorrow just to see the outcome. I also still have wheels, tires and wheel wells to go yet and will do that tomorrow also. I think I will do the interior another day as I think I will be too pooped to even attempt it.

Dean. :)

I like using the GG 6" with a 5" backing plate & Lake Country 5" flat pads.
Megs Ultimate Compound has a more aggressive cut than Ultimate Polish.
Be sure & follow Megs UC with LC orange with Megs UP & a LC white pad.
If that does not "cut it" then I'd suggest a more aggressive Megs polish.

Let us know your results.

Thanks for the info. I will have to give Meg's UC a try or maybe even something else it will be later this summer though. It looks as though I need to get an order together since I need at least 1 or 2 new pads and some other polish or compound. Yeah, thought I had spent enough already! :wall

Thanks,
Dean. :bigups

Yesterday a guy I know that has a mechanic shop up the street wanted me to clean up his 97 Z71. No paint correction, but wanted it clean, but it hasn't been washed in probably a year. I swear I've never seen as much mud the the fenderwell linings as this one. My driveway looked like a muddy drive after I was. He was happy with it and even tipped me (rare for people in my area). Now he wants me to do his sons boat and truck. Not looking forward to the boat.

I was up early to get to work on the daily driver

  • Washed with CG Citrus Wash and Gloss and Chenille mitt
  • Polished headlights with Mothers Plastic Polish and Mothers Headlight foam ball
  • Polished the daily driver mostly with Menzerna PO85RD (what a long work time) using Uber blue and LC black pads. I used Meg's M205 on some smaller areas by hand
  • Applied Menzerna Power Lock with a Lake Country white sealant pad (super soft). (Blackfire Midnight Sun tomorrow)
  • Vacuumed the interior
  • Cleaned driver's matt with Wolfgang Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner
  • Applied Blackfire Protectant to interior included seats
  • Cleaned jambs with CG Speed Wipe

Dear Al

You're tough, young, or both.

I applied a coat of Poorboy's White Diamond Show Glaze to our van. It took nearly 2.5 hours. On Wednesday through yesterday I applied a coat of Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish to get rid of the LSPs I applied incorrectly in early April. (I didn't give the Blackfire Wet Diamond any cure time in early April.) Tomorrow I'll apply the first of two coats of Wet Diamond.

I'm disappointed by my lack of stamina, but I'm glad I can leave the van in the garage for such an extended period. It'll probably be Wednesday before I drive it again.

I'm only 43 years old, but I'm overweight and not used to a lot of real work.

Finally got around to detailing the paint on the 2013 Accord after practicing on 2008 CRV and 2003 Accord:

Dawn wash
Clay
2nd Dawn wash
Megs UC using LC CCS Orange
BF TPnS using LC CCS White
BF WDAFPP using LC CCS Blue

Pics after WDAFPP (BF CS after WDAFPP cures later tonight or tomorrow)
