What did you do detailing wise today?

Nice, i really want to try a PE8 out.

Did an aggressive wash today on my corolla to put it in the garage and start doing paint prep work on it then sending it to Maaco( i know, cheap, but key is on the prep work and i only need a handful of yrs of durability until i get a dedicated vehicle). I'm removing all badges/emblems/trim and hitting it with some wet 600 discs on my PC with foam interface pad, then going over everything with a red scuff pad and soapy water . I put Collinite 845 on it back in Oct. 2015, and about a month ago i re-did the roof and trunk with FK1000P , both areas were still acting hydrophobic after the wash which consisted of :

-a foam bath with Gold Class Soap and Megs APC
-scrubbed all paint with a bug sponge
-Rinsed off
-Optimum Ferrex on the whole car
-scrubbed again with bug sponge while ferrex was on there
-rinse off with the rest of foaming mixture then plain water and it was STILL beading.

FK1000P on trunk after aggressive wash, notice no water on side of 1/4 panel, it just rolled off :

And on my way out i noticed my other car's hood which has Fk1000P and 845, had more pollen on the 845 side (upper portion of picture from your view, passenger side of hood), i should have taken a closer pic since it's not too noticeable from this picture distance. :

Painted my brake calipers the same color as the car and white decals. G2 custom kit matches paint code. Came out better than I expected.

Weekly rinseless on the GF's Sentra. Decided to try my new Rag Company Creature Edgeless towels , nice and plush but heavy and draggy ,making it a bit uncomfortable to control during a wet wipe. I'll stick to the previous towels i was using and use these for wiping off during machine work.

Got a gallon of Meg's Synthetic Spray wax and i am in love, this stuff saves me so much time : sprayed all over vehicle including glass and trim and everything buffed out so nicely. LSP Boost & Slickness added, glass cleaned & protected, trim protected , all with one product and towel.

Trunk was the biggest pain due to all the flaky SS paint, but that's done now and everything else should be smooth sailing .

Due for a full detail, but gave her a quick rinseless today and threw a coat of Chemical Guys 5050 on. I don't use carnaubas a whole lot these days, but I was in the mood today and that wax is a treat to use.

Sort of detailing related.

Let's try to keep this simple...

I can't buy a house, crap credit due to some... "bad financial decisions" the wife made during a deployment so I've been stuck in apartments, etc. for the last couple of years. Well, my parents bought a new house and want to renovate the old one before selling, they're planning on owning it for a couple more years. The place needs work, it's livable, but man is it outdated and ugly. So, the wife and I moved in, I get to do "some work" (probably most of the renovations because they're too cheap to pay someone and, well, if he does the work this place would never sell). I finally have a garage. It's small, I'd only be able to park a compact in it if I chose to but I don't own one. I'd never be able to detail in it but, I have a garage! They used it as a storage unit so, after cleaning it up I moved my previous detailing cabinet in and a "new" acquisition, then I decided to paint the bare drywall with some primer (for now) that I found laying around in the junk they left. It's not the greatest, and it's a work in progress, but man does it feel nice to have my own space - however small it may be.

Picture is from before painting it, and the junk on the right is theirs. The little red cabinet needs refinished. :( My grandpa made that for me when I was.... I don't know, little. Want to hold onto it to give to my kid if I ever have one and they messed it up pretty bad.

Wrapped up a detail on this regal Lady Saturday. Just a few teaser pictures until I get the full write up completed.

Rear Diff

The view from the owners seat

detailed a friend's Isuzu rodeo. the paint was pretty beat up but megs d151 on an orange pad/ griot's 6" da brought it back to life again.

I was going to hold off a few more weeks before moving my products to the garage, but it looks like we won't have to worry about lows below 30 anymore (plus the garage stays well insulated being attached to the house). It also gave me a chance to see how the Blackfire Professional bag looks loaded up with my polishers.

Here's the bag I'm referring to.

Inside the bag with my Rupes 15 Mark 2, GG6 with 5" bp and another GG6 with 3" bp, along with two 32 oz Menzerna bottles. I figured I can fill the rest of the inside up with towels and pads since it was pretty heavy, but I was impressed with the room.

Finally got my "maintenence wash" station set up so everything is close by since I wash in the garage.

Products where they finally belong. I need to find someone local interested in getting into detailing so I can give away some of the stuff I don't use to make room for more stuff I don't need ha.

I'm with you on that Ron...so with essentially a $250 mystery box coming I figured I should give 'downsizing' (irony) a shot

Well it failed,lol

My attempt at organization, rw/qd (mainly) on top

Polishes middle shelf (sample sizes in plastic box w drawer

bd4ff7a169a64e94cbf39896009a0c5a.jpg

Interior and tires
Spray sealants etc & hand applicators
And then the nasty stuff, iron removers etc below and gallons on bottom of same harsh chemicals

2bm Wash material is on other side of garage (not pictured )

So how did downsizing go?
Well i filled this yellow top box and the other box full of extra bottles already on the shelf and plan to move it inside to a spare bedroom closet that will house my pricier items during the hot tx summer

b12f49d7ca0ec8e9e1275f5cc82976ed.jpg

Still a massive work in progress to say the least. But getting somewhere-i think.

Oh and i also made some samples to send to a buddy in FL who recently got opticoat pro plus installed on his Hellcat charger (spotless, hydro2 lite, wolfs rw, spray and wipe, BnB and BS)
That box came from florida to tx, now im sending it back to fl from tx, found that kind of amusing.

I find spending a few extra minutes organizing after doing whatever (detailing, using tools, etc.) helps reduce the number of headaches the next time. Nothing's more frustrating than trying to find something when things already aren't exactly going as planned.
