What by hand, what by rotary ?

I was wondering if you guy's (the pro's I mean with that) will do when polishing a car withy a rotary/PC ?

The hood, roof and trunk can be done but what about the upper part of doors and small painted parts on the car ?

For the moment I use Meg's #83, 3M and the "new" Sonus products to remove swirls and scratches. I have some very good results with that (including wetsanding a door after being attacked by some small bushes...)

But I was asking myself how I can polish the edges of doors, hood and trunk and also those small painted parts that are too small to put the pad on...

For now, the fastest way for me is a foam applicator (tree coloured Sonus) to polish out those parts...
 
i'm no pro, but the edge of the pads seem to suffice.. tape off rubber/vinyl borders..



by hand is simply applying the pre polish ,and the lsp
 
Not exactly sure what area you are having problems with but with the rotary i can get most areas. If it is a small area use less pressure. Top of doors, mirrors, rear bumper edge etc. And make sure there is polish under the pad. The rotary can also be used on the pad side edge, with polish and light pressure, remember it is a smaller contact point so heat and marring will increase.
 
I'd be very careful using the edge of the rotary as it's easy to make a mistake; no such worries with the PC. Sometimes you can do tight spots with a 4" pad, sometimes you can't (the head of the polisher gets in the way).
