What are these?

And how do you get them off without scratching the paint?

On the paint

and on the glass

It's been less than 24 hours since I washed this car and in the last 8 hours of sunlight, it's already collected about 10 of these. They're nothing new, but sometimes they're hard to remove without some serious scrubbing.

Usually, I presoaked with ONR at QD strength, then washed with ONR. I've tried the grout sponge, a red ulti-mitt, and a orange Target mf towel as wash media, but some of the spots are still there even after some squeaky scrubbing with serious pressure.

This is one I couldn't get off completely during yesterday's wash.

There should be at some decent LSP protection at all times - at least 3 layers of OptiSeal and maybe some left over OCW. I figure I'll eventually get the residual stains off when I clay, but is there some way of getting them off without stripping the LSP every time? Thanks.

it's bug poop... The quicker you get it off the easier it is. Once it hardens it can be extreamly hard. Don't park under tree's LOL usual culprit. It gets confused a lot of times with tree sap. but the amber coloring gives it away as bug poop.

Thanks for the help. I think they're bug poop. Too small to be bird poop and they all look the same. They're all flybys though, the car isn't under a tree. Bee poop probably.....

So any special techniques besides wipe them off with QD as soon as possible?

I think I gave you a suggestion earlier. :tumblewee

Thanks, I saw that, and that's what I figured (my last sentence in the initial post), but I was hoping for something which wouldn't strip the LSP every wash. :)

Bug doo doo X3.

Smart thinking. Like Jake said, stay on top of it and get to it before the afternoon sun does and that should help. I used to do work for a car lot that had this problem every day. QD and a microfiber around 9AM worked fine and easily removed the spots. I might keep a gallon of ONR dedicated for cleaning this nearby.

Nice paint color BTW.

Try a good carnauba for an LSP. They *typically* will provide more environmental protection than a sealant will. If you want to stick to a sealant, FK1 1000p provides the best environmental protection I've seen in a sealant. You really need to get an LSP that will prevent the stuff from going through to the clear. If you're having a hard time getting the bug poop off, it means it is attached to the clear coat and that it has gone through whatever LSP is on your car. The Collinites ( 476 Super Double Coat or 845 Insulator Wax) provide amazing protection against bird bombs, bug poop, tar, bug hits, you name it. And they're cheap. Your local Harbor Freight should have them in stock.

Thanks everyone. I thought I had some 845 on there already, but it may have worn off. FK1000 will be here in a couple of days though. I guess I'll just have to do more frequent QDs.
