Sorry for the long post.

After cleaning vehicals they have Swirls anywhere I touched with PC.

Ok to begin with the subjects:

2002 Ford Mustang GT, Silver, Good Condition.
2005 Chevy Colorado, Silver Birch, Good Condition.

Products and seqence:

SS&S Wash
DP Clay and Lubircant First time with both vehicals.
SS&S Wash
SSR2 on a few spots with scratchs. Not able to feel with fingernail.
SSR1 entire vehicle to remove waterspots etc.
PwC Blue
Nattys org. on the Mustang
XP Sealant on the Colorado.

Im using the Wolfgang Deluxe pad kit from Autogeek.
Using the Yellow Foam pad with SSR2 and Orange Pad for the SSR1

Also using all microfiber towels, Cobra brand from Autogeek and Vroom brand from Target.

Like stated earlier I NOW have Swirls where I didnt before. I cant take any pictures becuase my camra is OOC. I would considered them to be light swirls. You can only just see them in the correct sunlight.

Im pretty sure it is coming from using the PC.

I start using the SSR1 with Orange pad, Placing an X on the pad with the product. Spreading with the PC off. Turning on at a low speed 2 and after about 30secs increasing speed to 4 1/2. As far as pressure I start at just the machines wieght to get started and increase to light pressure. All of the pads are clean. I inspected the pads while using them to ensure that they were not contaminated.

I understand that I am a newb. But I thought I am doing everything right.

Sorry for the long post, but I need help before my wife follows through with the threats for messing up her GT.

Thanks ANY SUGGESTIONS OR COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

The pad colors don't mean a thing to me, but....
For a polish, use a polishing pad. A different pad for each product or clean them between products.
For me, this would include the SSR2. SSR1. and the PwC.

For the LSP, use a finishing pad.

I don't own and wouldn't use a cutting pad with a PC. I personally don't think the PC is the right tool for a cutting pad. Not everyone feels that way, but that's my opinion. :dunno

The only time I would use anything other than light pressure, (the machines weight), would be with SSR2 if I was removing severe marring. I would finish with only the machines weight to complete the job.
Don't keep adding product as you are buffing. I work a polish until it is about gone, then wipe the residue off with a MF towel.

Try doing one section over and check the finish after each step of your process. Hopefully. you should be able to see which step is creating the swirls.

Good luck and hang in there. If I can do it, you can do it.:)

You're using very agrresive pads for just polishing. You should scale SSR 2 down to the Orange pad and use either a white pad (Polishing) or a gray/black pad (finishing) with SSR 1 to get rid of marring. I understand your desire to use a yellow pad but you don't want to use that unless you've got a scratch that you wouldn't otherwise be able to remove. As for PC pressure, you shouldn't use much more than the weight of the machine, I would suggest using less than the weight of the machine to make sure you're getting both the jiggling and spinning actions of the machine. Try these things out and report back. Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies and I will get on it as soon as I get home from work. The pad idea makes sense. So does the pressure.

Thanks
