What 4 products did you use before Autopia?

Those were the days man, lol, kit carnuba paste wax, washed with blue coral or anything i could get my hands on, (god knows what) washed with rags, waxed with dirty pads, then took it to the coin OP wash up the road and washed it all off the next week

Wash: Armor All car wash

Wax: Excalibur Carnuaba Cleaner wax

Tires: Armor All tire foam

QD: What the heck is that

Dishwashing detergent to wash

Old towels to dry car and wipe wax off

Old and not so clean application pads to apply wax

Nylon brushes to scrub the dirt off in the cold weather

I cringe when I think of how I used to take care of my cars.

Wash: Polyglaze Shampoo, Meguiars GC

Polish/Wax: Polyglaze Diamond Cut, Meg GC (liquid)

Dash/Tyres: Armor All Tyre Foam

Drying: Super Chamois

Towels: spare laundry towels

Not all *that* much has changed for me, product-wise...

1) Used to use Griot's clay, now use Sonus.

2) Used to use Malm's polish (not bad stuff, BTW) and Griot's Machine polishes, now use mainly 3M and 1Z.

3) Used to use synthetic chamois (Absorber, Water Bandit) and Charismas, now use MFs.

4) Used to use Autoglym SRP or Pinnacle Creme Glaz, topped with #16 or Souveran, now use a wider assortment of similar products.

Best product-related thing I got from Autopia, by far, was YoSteve's recommendation of the foamgun, an idea I've sorta taken to extremes...

Before Autopia:

Meguiars DC

Mother's California Gold Pure Carnauba Wax

Gliptone Pro-buff paint cleaner

-Experimented with a few waxes and sealants (one particular brand was met with great disappointment):

Discovered the Zymol Estate Waxes

After Autopia:

Sonus Carnauba Spritz

P21S (for daily driver)

Will try:

Sonus Paintwork Cleanser

Sonus Sfx 2 & 3

Sonus Acrylic Glanz

The Staple wax will remain: a Zymol Estate Wax

Looking forward to a great Spring!

Before Autopia....lol,

sponge or a long handled brush.

Dawn or whatever was on the kitchen sink.

Auto Carwashes.

Windex on my dash, windows, steeringwheel, console, armrest, with a kitchen towel.

No tire or rubber dressings.

Used something called Dri-Wash a friend gave me who owns an auto body shop a few times. Worked really well as far as i remember, but used it with...agian a kitchen towel.

Meguiar's Gold Class Paste Wax, Mother's Cleaner Wax (paste, California Gold), old bath towels for drying, 3M Swirl Mark Remover....oh, and for washing I used Blue Coral or Eagle One WET with a chenille mitt.

Tires : No Touch Foam

QD : Amazingly I did know about QD and clay, Mother's exclusively of course

Back before autopia, I only used a QD to remove bugs and fingerprints, even to this day I don't QD the whole car even after a wash, I will usually apply a wax/sealant

I don't even want to think about how I use to be before Autopia. I've always been into detailing but I had A LOT to learn.

I use whatever is the cheapest car wash for a hand wash. Otherwise to the car wash I go and that was before anyof the touchless car wash came out. Used achamois that's about 10 years old and it's always dirty or old towels. Of course gotta have the Armor All on tires and interior.

Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night screaming because I ran my Z in the car wash with all those brushes scrapping on her paint. :p

Shampoo: KIT wash + wax applied with sponge

Polish/Cleaner was TW Formula 2001 or mother's all in one

Dressing was armorall

QD was eagle 1 wipe + shine

shampoo : every soapy liquid or kit

polish : sanpoly

wax : turtle wax

qd : ?

drying : doesn't it dries by itself?

Perhaps I should change my nick to Neanderthal, this is very embarrasing...

Shampoo: Fairy Liquid (Dawn) applied with nice stiff hand held floor brush for that extra scrubbing action.

Drying: Natural chamois - used to rub really hard to wipe off the dirt I'd missed when washing.

Polish: What's that ?

Wax: AG SRP occasionally in the summer, applied extra thick to get a good coating on there - no point in winter as car will be covered in cr*p anyway.

QD: Quick hose down and chamois.

I've learn't an *awful* lot since then and I'm still learning thanks to this site.
