Wg Vs. Upp

I'm pretty new to this forum and I am curious about Wolfgang and Ultimate Paint Protection. I have tried many popular car care brands and protectants but have never come across those two. I was thinking about giving one of them a try but first I thought I would get some opinions about them. Which one do you guys think is better and why? Whats different about them? Any informaiton would be helpful. I have a black car and currently use Blackfire and Menzerna FMJ on my paint. Thanks in advance.

4 Star UPP is a sealant that has a look very much like a carnauba.
Klasse AIO as a prep/base and then the UPP works great for me.

Wolfgang, I haven't used.

If in doubt, get them both:LOLOL :owned , I've got wolfy+ souveran on my bimmer and it looks great, as for UPP, I got it ordered and still waiting :kneel :kneel

OT: Half of my hood is AIO and the other half is prep using prewax polish enhancer, can't tell any difference in looks (before putting on wax)

ps: Remember PAC has 15% offer on for this weekend only, don't miss it! Btw how do you find FMJ and blackfire?

I think Plat is a little wetter than Wolfgang,,.....I also believe it provides slightly better protection due to its oil qty ? Just my $.02...I think BF is wetter than both but can have dust issues....

Blackfire and FMJ are both incredible. Blackfire is very similar to Zaino and I go back and forth between them b/c i can't decide which is better. FMJ is very good as well I found it to have a very deep shine especially for a synthetic and it didn't look sterile even on a black car. The surface was very slick and durability is good, but my one complaint is that there's no quick detail spray which is normally a big plus for a synthetic. To be honest, I'd be surprised if WG or UPP would be as good as those 2, but I guess Ill have to try it for myself since Ive heard nothing but good things about them on this forum.

Blackfire is similar to Zaino? That has to be the first time I have ever seen those two products compared. From my experience I have to say that BF is nothing like Zaino. Zaino is cold and glossy while Blackfire was one of the first polymers to really duplicate the warm glow of a carnauba. Plus BF is a streak machine and a dust magnet. UPP and WG leave BF in the dust (no pun intended). UPP is much better and more comparable to BF than Wolfgang is. WG has its own advantages, but they are both better picks than BF if you ask me. You really should try them and see what you think. My bet is that you won't go back to BF after trying them.

WG amazes me as it doesn't attract dust at all! I simply can't believe it! After 6 days I have to really look hard to find any dust on the car!!! This is a MIRACLE!
Usually, with products ranging from P21S/S100, NXT, PInnacle cyle paste, LS (to a lesser extent) I get layer of dust that requires a wash after 6 days depending fi I hadn't S&W or QD'ed the car during the week. In all fairness I must try my UPP and Poorboy's to round out my supply.

I'm supprised to hear you say that. On my350z.com BF vs Zaino is probably the biggest debate in the detailing forum. In all fairness, that detailing forum doesn't have as many well educated members as this one and WG and UPP are basically never talked about. Clearly Detail city is the place where the smartest detailers communicate. So that being the case, how would u guys say that UPP and WG do in the duribility department? Also, do they leave the finish as slick as BF or Zaino? I love that slick feel that a good protectant leaves so thats a big factor in which product I'll use. It seems like UPP and WG are both great products and I'm going to have a tough time deciding which is better to get!

I have never left WG on alone, I always top w/either #16, Natty's or S100.

One thing is for sure, the WG sealant ands substantialy to the dark colors that I have used it on

WG hasn't been out long enough to know really how well durability is. I know I can get around 10 or 12 weeks out of UPP and I wouldn't expect WG to be too much different. The surface is definitely slick. I would give the nod to UPP for being a little slicker than WG, but they are both very close.

BF is really old news as far as I'm concerned. It was hot stuff in the beginning when it first came out, but it disappointed a lot of people because it streaks alot and has a real serious problem with dust attraction. UPP came out right after BF did and really burried the competition. People online stopped talking about BF after that. You hardly ever see it brought up on boards like DC or Autopia anymore.

It doesn't surprise me at all that a Z forum talks about Zaino all the time. Zaino users are almost like members of a cult. Its rare to find car forums that don't pick one product and talk about it exclusively. Boards like this one are a little different because there are many more people who have tried many other products extensively. There are no sheep on Detail City that are just going to go out and buy the most talked about product. The reason for that is because there simply is no 'most talked about' product. They are all discussed here pretty equally. The sponsors have their own forums where their products are talked about more than others, but mostly you could say that we try and talk openly and objectively about any product that comes up. We know that there isn't a "best" product out there, so we embrace anybody who can give insight on something we haven't tried yet.

The point is that if you want to know what is the best for you then you really need to try things out. Just because everybody else with a 350Z likes Blackfire or Zaino doesn't mean that you have to. The 350Z that I take care of on a regular basis never gets anything other than UPP and Souveran on it. I've given the owner the option of Zaino, Blackfire, Wolfgang, Klasse, NXT, #20, you name it... he likes the way UPP and Souveran looks and doesn't want anything else. I know a lot of people like that. I don't push UPP or anything on my customers. What looks good to me might not be what they want. I keep a wide variety of products so that they have a choice. If they don't know what they want then I pick for them. Honestly, usually its AIO and UPP for them. I've never had one complaint in the two years that I've been offering that combination.

Sounds good. Thanks for all the insight. I can tell I'm going to like this forum better when it comes to detailing products. There are simply more people with more information and more experience to speak from. I myself am all for trying new products, else I wouldn't be asking questions, so don't mistake me for someone who belongs to a Zaino cult, although I do think its a terrific product. But my opinion of Zaino and Blackfire comes from my own experiences, now what everyone thinks. I agree with dust being a problem, but I actually found Zaino to be more of a dust magnet than Blackfire. So if you say that UPP is even better than that, I def gotta give it a try. It sounds like I'm going to be trying both UPP and WG since everyone raves about both products. While I'm at it, i'll give souveran a try too. Ive used P21s for years and it was always my favorite carnauba but Souveran seems like the better choice bassed on other ppl's comments. I guess I'll have to see for myself. Thanks to everyone for their info so far.

I don;t like to top UPP or EX with a Wax because "dust" so when I do top with Wax for that deeper look, I Qd alot more often...Zaino is a great product...I still use it on certain paints....and colors...
