WG polish gone bad

distrbd

all in the details
I brought this up in another forum:
I have bottle of WG polish enhancer that looks very much like old lumpy milk, the oil is separated and is floating on top, shaking /mixing it will not work at all ,I even attached a mixer to a drill and gave it a good 10 minutes of mixing but nothing seems to work.
Is this a sign that the polish is no longer effective? do polishes go bad ?
I don't mind tossing it in the trash can but was wondering separation of the oil is a sign that the polish is too far gone or too old.
I appreciate your comments.

This has happened to a couple of products for me. (Not Wolfgang)
It is possible that mine might have frozen and that may have caused the separation and grainy/lumpy consistency.
Could your WG Polish Enhancer have been frozen?

FWIW, I ended up throwing my separated products away.

Sounds like it is gone to me.
I know that there has been some discussions about shaking product to keep them from permanently separating. Some of the products that I have will separate to some degree but after a couple of good shakes they come back to their normal consistency.

If the separation was due to the conditions where your products was stored, have any other products been effected, it just may be that this one is a product that you have to keep an eye on.

All my polishes and waxes are kept in my house most of the year except for summer when I need them in my Garage.
Non of my other polishes or sealants are permanently separated and as J mentioned a couple of good shakes is all it takes to bring them back to life.
I guess I'll do what has to be done and that is to just throw it in the garbage and forget about reviving it.

Thank you for your replies ,I feel better that it wasn't anything that I did.

Products can indeed go bad if they are subjected to harsh conditions (freezing temps, etc).

PM me your order number and I'll get a replacement out to you free of charge.

Maybe try heating it slowly in the bottle in a pot of water, then shake. Don't get it hot, just warmish.

Thanks ,That's very kind of you,I didn't expect it at all but I guess that's why AG is so popular with detailers.
I'll try to find the order#.

Nolan,Thanks for the suggestion,it sounds logical ,I'll give it a try .:bigups

Update:

Matt from Autogeek contacted me an

Matt from Autogeek contacted me and told me if I could find the order # he would replace this polish.

Well I couldn't provide any proof where or when I bought it ,thanked him for going out of his way trying to help me and that's it I considered this case closed.

Today I get a PM from Matt that a new bottle of WG polish Enhancer is on it's way to me free of charge!!!

So I'm getting a new bottle from AG and I all I can say is it would not have been possible if it wasn't for Matt for not letting this go and persisting to resolve it .
All I can say is thank you Matt ,thank you Autogeek for going out of your way to help all your customers.

I've had this separation happen several times with various products. For the most part these are the oil based products that don't have pleasant fragrances. It's pretty easy to blame the surroundings for the product going bad and though I'm sure this is one cause I don't believe it's the only one. I believe that sometimes the product just separates for no readily identifiable reason (maybe age related).

Though I can't say what happens to the products during its shelf life while at the manufacturer, the distributor or during shipping. I do know what happens to the product once I receive it. I keep my products in my climate controlled garage that never really sees temperatures either side of 55 - 80 degrees.

When I read this thread I remembered that I had discovered a bottle of Liquid Pinnacle Souveran that had this problem a couple of weeks back. No flame on the product it's great stuff. This bottle is actually about 2 years old. My son and I were polishing his truck when I found it. I shook the product for about 10 minutes at the time and no change, it was clumpy with cottage cheese consistency chunks in it. I had another bottle that I purchased at the same time though its seal had never been cracked, it was fine and I used it.

I've done what has been suggested in this thread in the past and had excellent results doing this. Once this thread reminded me to do so, I heated the product in a pan of water until the water was at a simmer. I shook it for a couple of minutes and viola it looks just like the other bottle of Liquid Souveran I have on hand. I done this before and the products seem to perform just as I would expect, in fact this procedure has worked every time I've tried it. I would suggest giving it a try before throwing out a product you like.

I did try it a couple of days ago as Nolan had suggested, exactly the way you described it and unfortunately I got no where.
I have feeling the polish was too old , I had used it 2 -3 times last tear and closed the bottle tight kept it in my house all winter but when I opened it a couple of weeks ago it was already too far gone to be saved.
