Wetsanding

I use a spary bottle with water in it and 1500 to 2000 grit sandpaper...trick to wet sanding is not to use much pressure and go light wiping back the area allot to see what you are doing.

I don't typically use 1500 unless I really have to. I use 2000 grit, 3M, though people say the Meg's 2500 & 3000 unigrit is great.
The key is to not do more than you need to do. If a couple of swipes'll work, lovely. Stop, and safe time buffing back. Don't be discouraged as you are buffing back, it'll probably come.

I will echo the above statements. Just dont go overboard. I find that meznerna power gloss is the king for buffing out swirl marks. I did wetsanding with 1500 a night ago on my practice hood and buffed out 90% of the sanding marks with one pass of the PG. I pass later and a pass of po85rd and it was perfect.

Maybe if your doing show car paint jobs. But anywhere from 1000 to 3000 will do it for your average scratch or whatever your trying to do.

I use 3m paper, 1000 and 2000. When you see the water turn into a milky look, stop and wipe it off and see what you've done. Like everyone said a few passes and most scratches will be removed.

how easy/hard would be to remove the scratchs caused by the sandpaper, could it be done with a pc?

generally deep scratches(still in clearcoat) and those acid rain spots that etch out the paint.......would require wet sanding......i use wetsanding as a last resort
wetsand should be used when the pc is on setting six being moved very slowly and a heavy duty rubbing compound is not cutting it
..........
so inresponse to my initial question you guys wetsand with about 1500 and above

I work at a body shop so I have done my fair share of cut and rubs. I start out with 2000 then I go to 4000 on a velcro pad with a DA ( similar to a porter cable, but not as many rotations). This takes out most of the 2000 scratchs and lessens cutting time. 4000 grit is nearly skin smooth and allows you to go right up to the edge of a panel. I have never really tried to use a sheet of 4000 just the pads.
