Wetsanding

fwiw I use the 3m PI III with the 3k discs follwed by PI SR and the SE (basically 3m by the book) the system works. I took 95%+ out of a realy nasty black jag XJ8 about a month ago it only took about 5 hrs. It seemed like the discs didn't last as long as I would have liked them to though, also the 3M SE is one of the messier/ tempermental compounds i have used.

Yeah it was dusty. Didnt gum up like the PI II did. The SR always did. Have to spray with final inspection usually.

I was very impressed with how the megs 85 and 83 finished down though. First time I used 85 and first with 83 by rotary. Usually pc it

fwiw Ive been pretty happy with the 3m trizact papers, usually hit frest paint with 1200 for runs or heavy orange peal, then 1500, then I spend a fair bit of time with 3000. The 3000 really makes buffing easy. I then usually follow up with a 3m wool cutting pad with perfect it compound, then a 3m foam pad with machine glaze. Ive been pretty happy with this but, lately Ive been using the meguiars solo system, one polish 4 pads. Works really well if you do alot of wetsanding and buffing.

The clear was hard and I had to rub the hell out of it to get the peel out. It was bad.

I'm sure it was a lot harder than you were used to working with. The paint had all that time to cure and harden, so I would've expected it to be a lot harder to work with.

wagsjr- You might wanna stock up on the 05936, IIRC it's another of the discontinued products (along with the rest of the PI-III stuff).
