Wetsanding taillight scratches?

Hey guys..

I just removed some factory badges from a 96 Eclipse.

The problem is that I left a few very slight scratches in the taillight, and you can also still see the outline of where the badges used to be.

It's annoying and I'm too anal to let it sit. Rather than buy a new center tailight, I was wondering if I could wet sand and then buff?

Does anyone have any experience and could point me to the right product?

I have the usual arsenal of detailing products, but no wetsanding paper.

1500 grit ok to start with?

Or should I go 1000-1500-2000, AIO buff?

Thanks!

Tony

I ended up wetsanding with 1000grit, then 1500grit, then a quick pass of SSR2.5

Took all of 10 minutes and the results were very good.

For deeper scratches I'd suggest starting with 800grit, then working on up. 2000grit isn't necessary if you have a decent cutting compound. SSR2.5 worked right through the 1500 grit with ease.

Thanks.
