can you do that? abralon 6" 2000 then follow up by 4000 on a someday before repainted Mercedes, has tons of orange peel on it, and tell me of the 2000 an 4000 combo sounds good?

Good question, but I'm betting the circular rotation would do more damage then good.

I'm betting there's a reason that you only see sanding pads with orbital machines and not rotary's.

You could try though and tell us how it works?

lol i just ordered griots orbital and some 2000 and 3000 discs, also paint gauge

Sanding with a machine is very aggressive. It is common in body shop and production lines when speed is the key. When you can take your time sanding by hand is a much better method. Also you need to be careful and sand evenly. Lastly a PTG is not going to tell you much on a repainted car. Unless you have a gauge that can read layers you will be guessing at the clear coat thickness. I work with a lot of classic cars and see readings from 80microns to 800microns on the same panel. On a factory painted car you could estimate the clear coat thickness but on a repainted car it will be impossible unless the body shop took it down to bare metal. Just my thoughts.

Sanding with a rotary would burn right through. They only use non direct drive d.a.'s. Sanding blocks are still the best for wetsanding.
