wet sanding and plastic

I have plastic lenses with scratches a bit deeper then light swirls. I have heard of people wet sanding their lens first. Who out there has done this and what grade paper did you use? Should it be less harsh then clear on paint or same....



Once the wet sanding has removed these srcatches i will then go over it with Plastx and a white LC pad correct?

I have. It takes a few steps of sanding. I started with 400 and ended up at 4000 or 12000(don't remember). It's important to remove ALL of the sanding marks from the previous grit or you wont like the results. Polishing can be done with either a plastic polish, aluminum polish or compound that you'd use on your paint. Finish with a finishing polish should you use the compound.



I used Menzerna PG and FPII.

I have done it a few times. I usually start with 1000, then 1500, then 2000, then 3000. I polish out with the meguiars plastic polishes. I don't recall the numbers but I work both in with a polishing pad on the rotary @ 600.
