Wet Monaro

Mad iX

No detail for you!!!
2004 Holden Monaro aka Pontiac GTO.

Did this one on Saturday.

Was in pretty good condition, with the usual swirls and a few bird bomb marks.

Less than 2 years old, but odometer already reads 70k.

My Metabo rotary kept cutting out because of the heat (I think) so I did most of the first step with the Makita which didn't even break a sweat. :?

SSR2.5 with Green Edge pad and rotary

SSR2 w/ W-8006 and DA

FPII w/ W-8006 and DA

NXT Paste by hand (always liked this on blue, and the paste is a step up to the liquid)

Natty's Blue by hand (12 hours later)

No before pics. After pics aren't great either, I guess you'll have to trust me that the swirls are gone. Wasn't enough sunlight when I was done.

Plexus on headlights and headlight protectors.

My favorite shot. Mothers FX spray wax on wheels, PB BnB on rubber. AIO/SG on trim.

Interior got a quick wipedown with Simple Green then dressed trim with 303.

Leather got Z9/Z10.

Funny thing that happened was when the owner came to pick it up, a bird bomb landed on it. So at least he got to see how easily it wiped off.

Might I ask what was your dilution rate for using Simple Green on the interior? Thanks!

What's with the hitch on a hot rod?

LOL! They are just an everyday car here in Australia. Everyone knows someone with one, or owns one themselves.

The last one ever was recently sold on ebay for $160K +

My brother has one, nice enough car. But being a typical Holden the fitment of the internal panels is not great.

The engine sounds incredible though

Great detail job. The color looks incredible!

Anywhere from 20:1 to 10:1. The interior for this car wasn't too bad, I used 15:1.

is Holden Pontiac overseas?

and yes the Goat aka GTO aka Monaro is a sweet car.....

and $160k?!!?!??! they cost $35k here!!!

$160K for a Monaro, no way. I think cause it was the last one and it is a cult car that the owner paid a premium.

The Holden Monaro designed and built in Australia is about AU$60K depending on the model, I think the US gets them cheapest, don't know if they are shipped in peices and assembled in the US but they are an Aussie design and a wonderful car and for US$35K very cheap too!

They are much better built than some cars from europe and the US, not the best but great for AU$60K. They are tough, very reliable for everyday use + track driving now and then.

I have 12 customers with Monaros.

Damian.

actually... the '06 GTO's can be had around $30-32k. There's still quite a few '05s on dealer's lots that can be had for $26-28k. I remember when they were trying to get rid of the leftover '04s... you could get an '04 for around $23k.

Nice pics tho... looks like the Impulse Blue we get on this side of the pond. Geez, it looks SO much better without the goofy wing they stick on it over here.

it's funny you mention dealers dumping 04's-05's.....I remember a dealer having an 04/05 5.7 (whichever year still had 5.7 and single exhaust) being blown out at $299/mo lease fully loaded...

I was going to jump all over it, but the thought of having two RWD cars for winter sucked....

I look back now and regret not doing it...oh well.....
