Wet looking wax

:help: I have a 06 redfire (med dark red) mustang

I started out using Optimum car wash and wax and while both work great

I'd like to try and get a "wet looking " finish as opposed to the mirror finish that Optimum leaves behind

Theirs so much info here it's a bit overwhelming



I live in the Northeast and the car is exposed to the elements 24/7

In the spring I plan to wash with Dawn, clay bar and build from there



Can anyone point me in the right direction to get that wet looking finish?
 
I think a high quality carnauba will provide the desirable "wet" look you seek. OTOH, if this is a daily driver that's exposed 24/7, you're gonna be hurtin' when it comes to longevity.



How often are you willing to wax?

I can find the time on an almost weekly basis if needed and weather permitting

Normally I try to get in 1 last detailing in late Nov. then usually get a good day in Jan

After that its sometime April before warm enough weather comes back

If its above freezing I have no problem washing it in my driveway

(neighbors think I'm nuts lol)
 
try vw, it will leave a deep love as aposed to a wet look. makes the paint look a mile deap.



also i have found zymol carbon leaves a deep look as well
 
As far as wet look, on a red car (dark red), I would recommend two products that I think both will do this well. The first is Menzerna FMJ. I think this looks the best on this color car. Very easy to use as well. Some do not like the durability compared to Zaino, (or so they say), but I got a good 4 months out of it this last time.

The other product that I think gives a great wet look is Victoria Concours Wax. Deep wet look.
 
i have a 90 fleetwood caddy that has that wet look you desire......hand wax it every week ,with any carnuba paste.the more layers of wax ,the wetter the paint will appear.,and more protection for the paint.i live in philly pa.so i know what you mean about the weather.
 
My prescription for '06mustang: Blitz's heavy-duty 1 Grand Wax! I'd start there and see if the results are acceptable. Appearance-wise, I'm certain they will be.



I think many have preceded you on this path and most now reach for one of the excellent polymer sealants. Personally, I'd rather be in traffic, burning (diesel) fuel than sitting in the garage working on the car every other weekend. :waxing:

I agree. I love the look of Blitz especially over KSG. It really darkens the paint and looks super wet. It looks really amazing on dark reds and black. It was one of this forums favorite combos back in the day.
 
It sounds like you live in a northern climate like myself. I would suggest something like my plan of attack. Get whatever you like for a nice wet and glossy look in the summer, and then a bottle of Collinite 845 for the winter. The Collinite will still look great, and give you plenty of protection from November to January. Then in the spring you can switch to something less durable with a better look.

Blitz Wax is a great balance of gloss/shine, ease of use, and EXCELLENT durability for a carnauba. It even smells fresh and mild.
