Werkstatt Prime /AJ-Trigger meets C6 Corvette

I decided it was time to do the Corvette. I wanted to use something different than the other Vettes in the area, who mostly use Zaino and NXT. After some great e-mail exchanges with Jeff (the owner), I decided the new Werkstatt products would give me what I wanted: Clear, wet protection. I wanted the flake to pop, yet have the deep wet look that you get from a carnuba. These products defintely hit the mark, unlike the OCW I was using which though looked good, I felt muted the flake a bit.

After washing with Poorboys SSS wash, first up was Prime. Prime is a combination polish/acrylic sealer. It provided minor swirl removal while deep cleaning the paint. I only had one or two minor swirls at best, but Prime removed them. Using my PC and a grey Propel finishing pad, I was able to cover the entire car in about 10-15 minutes. A little goes a long way. The product worked in easily. The only thing I could say about application is if you see thick white areas, you are applying too heavily and those areas will be a bit harder to remove. I found that taking a foam hand pad and spreading them out before drying helped a lot. I let Prime stand for 30 minutes which gave me time to Flitz the exhaust.

Removal was moderate. I wouldnt call it easy or difficult, somewhere in between. It could be attributed to my first try and applying too thick, as the harder spots appreared thicker. I was amazed at the slickness and shine for just the Prime alone. Much slicker than off the shelf products like NXT, Mothers, etc by far. I would not hesitate to use Prime as a one step for a vehicle in good shape or limited weather exposure. It was so slick, I almost hesitated and left it that way.

Finally, I used Acrylic Jett -Trigger. This is the LSP that provides extra protection, slickness and shine. As with most of the newer LSP sprays, you almost feel like there is no way this can be as good as a thicker or paste product. It goes on easy like a QD. Spray it on, work it with a MF until it disappears. The results were stunning. I didnt think the surface could get any slicker, but sure enough it did.

Slickness, clarity, color fidelity and wetness easily rank as the best Ive seen for my taste on a metallic finish. If I had to compare, the only prep Ive seen come close to this is Z2Pro x 3, with Z6 x3 and a Z8 Topper. I think I accomplished more in a fraction of the time (I completed the entire process in just over an hour, and I was taking my time), and at a much less cost. Take a look at the picture of the bottles. Notice the the levels. This was taken AFTER I did the entire car. I will report back on durability. I also have the Acrylic Glos QD to keep up between detailings. But with the ease of the Acrylic Jett - Trigger, I dont even know how much I'd use it.

For ease of use, results, customer service and a show stopping finish, I give the Werkstatt system a 10 out of 10. Enough of my rambling, on with the pics:

Glad to see the review. this is my go to product for most of the cars I am doing for customers. it almost feels like you are cheating lol. for metalflake pop this stuff is unreal. if anybody ever wanted a review I would tell them try it and if you do not like it, I will buy it from you. these guys have escalated sealants to a new level IMO. glad to see you are happy with it. for people who have some worse defects, the Prime strong does remove more swirls. only question I have is why the grey pad? I like to use the blue but that is just what I do. thanks again for the pics and enjoy the product

Awesome!! Looks excellent, I can see the great flake pop along with the nice wetness! Would this be a combo that would hold up through the winter? (not on the vette obviously!)

Thanks for the review!

I am not sure of the durability with the Trigger ( spray ) version, because it just came out. the other AJ that is a little thicker does hold up as well or better as ..... lets say the better sealants for *me*. the regular version is similar to SG in application, WOWO and I will do that x2.let's just say this combo has replaced a very well know sealant that I used for 3 years. any questions feel free to PM me. the great thing is that I end up using about 1/4 of an ounce on my Trailblazer :D

Absolutely stunning!

Sorry we couldn't hook up for a detail day...Looks like you sorted everything out just fine :D.

Great job! That shine is stunning and that flake pic is by far, the most impressive flake shot that I've ever seen.

Gorgeous looking detail and car! Thanks for the fix!

I really like the color combo that you chose. You don't see too many like it in our area.

Very nice detail on a really nice Vette :bigups

I'd be curious in knowing how durable the AJ-Trigger is in NE weather.
