Werkstat or FK1?

I tried some 2180 from the FK Sampler. Wasn't all that impressed with it. It looks OK, but didn't seem to slick to me. I ended up using Megs #21 on the top of the SUV to compare. 21 was easier to use. I'll see how they comparitively do over the next couple months

you Bastards!!!!

I'm about order a gallon each of 425 and 146.

I'm moving to a gated community with no garage parking. Looks like I'll be using that 146 for quick detailing.

p.s.

I poured the 425 and Fx100 inot empty spray bottles of Mother's Show time and it works waaaaay better than the spray bottle FK gives you.

p.s.s.

The two gallons of 425 and Fx100 are being shipped for only $4.99

:goodjob

DANG I FORGOT TO MENTION THE AUTOPIAN DISCOUNT AGAIN!!!

sspeer - You really have to work all FK1 products into the paint. Yesterday's detail on a white RX300 after OC I used the pc with a polishing pad on speed 3 for 2180 - Came out so slick that I almost didn't top it with #16.

I used a terry applicator and used cirucular motions (since it said work it into the paint) and waited about 30 minutes before removing with a MF. It wasn't difficult to remove, but M21 seems to go on and off easier and isn't too particular

If there's a trick, they should tell everyone.

I'm more than willing to give it another go

Thomas told you the 'secret'. As FK says exactly, you must work their products well into the paint. That doesn't mean circular motions, or whatever motions, just a thorough application which initially may need additional layers (older or neglected finishes). Go slowly, ensuring full coverage, and apply a BIT of pressure.

FK have a different feel during application. They'll tell you when it is enough. Sorta "Trust your feelings, Luke!" :D

They doesn't spread lightly, infinitely as Collinite 845 or even #21. They require cooperation and some insightful skill too. The DA is an ideal tool for applying them.

If you are a slickness guy, try the 216 (alone, or topped with FX-100). Thanks to their wax content, they look warm, and the car will be slick!

hmm..maybe I'll have to break the PC out and do the hood again to check it out..but I don't know if I can take another "How about doing mine next" comment from the neighbors

Landcruiser is right..most under rated product or least talked about is #146.

Man, it cleans bug guts off the nose cone of the car with ease, and with each subsequent use

it adds shine and gloss similar to #425.

Best QD w/ cleaning ability I have tried to date, and I have tried many.
Alright, so after All this extensive talk (several months) of 425 being the UlTimate QD - Now 146 steps up to take the honors in that catagory - with better cleaning ability!? ... What gives?

 Based on what? That one comment? A quick search on #146 reveals next to nothing about "taking the honors" let alone a mild interest on this board.

#146 is like a PB S+W type product with more cleaning ability than a traditional QD. It can be used inbetween washes to lift light dirt accumulation.

I agree with Spilchy... 425 is for dusting/QD or in between layers of wax or sealant. 146 which I just recieved and have only tried once on a NOT very dirty surface seems to be 425 on steriods. It has alot more cleaning ability more like PB SnW... but leaves the paint somewhat the same as 425... OK, maybe not quite as slick but really close. So far with my limited use I really like 146. It doesnt smell as good as PB SnW .... and more testing is needed to check the cleaning strength, but it leaves a silky shiny surface and like other FK products the appearance seem to get better after some time.

I just had to add that I've read that the FK products really, really imporve over the course of a few days after you apply them so maybe this accounts for your initial impression of a lack of slickness.

I wish I could tell you first hand about my experience but the rain looks like it'll be here for a least a week. What a bad time to receive an order of products!

I hear ya!!! They almost have too many products, especially when they overlap a bit. It's like going to a Chinese restaurant with about 100 different items to choose from

I don't know how big of an outift FK is, but it would almost seem like they could really make their products pop if their R&D focused on fewer items
