Well, I just got screwed.

jim :bigups on that g35 bro noone in thier right mind would not be happy to hand a c note for that beauty too bad you ran into a pos incect such as this.

As stated in his original post..he didn't have money to start with...kinda fishy in the beginning...If he could afford $100 then he could afford and extra $50 or so and done it himself....As far as the threats on the board...the one providing the service hasn't made any threats, only others so if something "did" happen then it would be his word against his....I would like to be the judge in the case and havta listen to a someone tell me their car was vandalized because I didn't pay for a service that I had received....My response would be..."guess you have learned your lesson"....

One of the Golden Rules of Detailing for "strangers"....

Never hand over the keys until the payment is made!

Something so simple goes a long way. I'm almost about to begin detailing cars on the side. Thanks for the advice!

I haven't posted again because I don't want to get in the middle of this. I do not know either party involved; I was asked by specknv350GT if I knew of any detailers in the LV area. I didn't find any in the local boards so I posted the original thread asking if anyone did work in LV and let it go from there. I was not privy to any of the conversations/exhanges between the OP and specknv350GT and would have forgotten all about this had it not been for this thread, obviously.

I am not going to get involved other than to say that this seems to suck for both parties. jimvegas00 spent time and products detailing a car and didn't get paid and specknv350GT says that his car is now in worse condition then when he brought it to be detailed. I don't know how the exchange went, so I can't take either side - I suggest other board members keep that in mind. We weren't there so we don't know what happened. If it were me at this point and I was either party I would chalk it up to experience and let it go. Doing something illegal is not the way to resolve issues like this, imo.

Suck for both parties? Are you serious??? I don't see how you have that point of view when the person who got his car detailed RAN like a little girl and didn't have the balls to say that he wasn't impressed by the job done by the OP. Who are you to believe? The person that speaks up or the one who runs away? You've got to be kidding me...

Yes, I was serious. I didn't say that speck did the right thing, I said it sucks for both parties if one got stiffed and the other feels like his car is worse off now than before the detail.

Only sucks for one. The one that spent 5 hours of his time and materials to help a fella make his car shine. He even took the time to explain his process so that he could possibly do it himself in the future. $50.00 is a bargain for any detail even if it didn't turn out top notch (and I'm not claiming it didn't). The G35 guy ran like a little girl rather than face up to it like a man. If he didn't like the workmanship then you deal with it straight up. No excuse for the punk.

I would have to agree

Thanks for the support everyone, I'll know better next time. Most people I deal with are honest and straightforward, and I've never had a problem. I just forget sometimes that not everyone is that way. As I said before, I'll not pursue this further. Plus, I have enough sense not to incriminate myself, especially on a public forum. If he takes it to another level, then I have alternatives. I do NOT consider Picus in any way responsible in this. I should have known better. Oh well, live and learn.

I just happend to go into my User CP to change my avatar and noticed I received some negative Karma for my posting in this thread. Did anyone else receive some? I have a feeling it was the person who received the detail and is now subsequently banned that did this. Mods, feel like removing it for me?

If he didn't like the "detail" he could've said so and given him the opportunity to fix it, but instead he ran. :hm From the pics....the car does look great.

:werd: If he hadn't run and instead said he wasn't happy with the work, I am sure an effort would have been made to make him happy or that he wouldn't have charged him. From what I have read, he agreed to the $50 charge and then took off. That is theft of services, no matter how you look at it.
