Weird obession w/ Dodo Juice Wax

DODO juice users (specifically soft wax like the purple haze):



ive got a question about application. i've "heard" that you should actually apply it with your bare hands, just rub it in ever so gently with your finger tips. Can anyone confirm this? or is a foam applicator the best method?



Also, how long are we to leave the wax on before we buff it out?

So true! IMO the Supernatural wax is good and the White Diamond is pretty decent if you can get it on discount.



All in all you are not going to get a product which will give you results that something like CG 50/50 or Nattys Red cant give you, how much is Nattys Red....$20?



A bottle of Z2 is about $15 and DoDo dont offer anything better looking or more durable. Just food for thought and for the fun of the little test pots and the fact you can apply them by hand its fun purchase.



A 3oz Victoria Wax Concours (red) is pretty cheap and a very good wax as well.



Lime Prime is a pretty decent prep product and i would give my thumbs up to that, on Megs polishing pad it has a decent hiding and glossing abilities.



As for Red Mist, think of AW with out benefit of being able to apply it to a wet car.



As for when to buff off; by hand and pad i tend to find find a few panels then buff is all it needs. If you get a red CSS hand pad then you will find your wax goes thiner and further and is my preffered method.

I don't know if this product can be considered overpriced. Overpriced goods are priced too high for market acceptance by definition. Take a $45,000 car with a $10,000 factory rebate as an example. It can be said that Dodo Juice is expensive relative to other quality products and that it doesn't offer the same value to everyone, but overpriced? Not really.

If that's the case, then that's probably a major contributor to the higher price. It's also the reason why I've been reluctant to buy it. There are plenty of other, domestically available, waxes at the same or lower price point. A boat ride doesn't make the wax work any better, therefore, I don't see any value in paying for it.



Can someone from the UK tell us what you pay for Dodo wax locally? I'm also interested to know if it works both ways. Do you pay a premium for Meguiar's, Poorboy's, or Collinte products?

There is a bit of import tax on there and shipping costs, but mostly the good old green back dont buy much forgien currency and hence you have to work more hours to buy imported items like that.



By the time you add on shipping and tax and the localised shipping we dont get much of a deal on Poorboys or Duragloss as you might expect given that a £ buys (and has done more so in the past) a fair bit of $.

I have avoided buying Dodo products precisely for this reason. I'm sure DJ waxes are very good waxes, but I'm confident that plenty of American waxes are just as good and are much better buys (in the U.S.).

I probably shouldn't jump on this too much since I really haven't given it much of a chance yet, but after applying Natty's Red today I would say that there is no comparison between it and Supernatural.



I am perfectly willing to accept the possibility that I did something wrong (but I don't know how, especially since Natty's is supposed to be "easy to use" and more or less idiot proof....maybe I'm just one of those new and improved idiots? lol ) but the Natty's definitely lacks clarity and looks slightly hazy compared to the Supernatural.
 
I bought the little 30ml sampler of SN from Rubbish Boys, along with a couple of jars of Bilt Hamber Auto Balm (for the winter driver - Sluggo2).

The SN was applied by hand to the Imola Red M Coupe and the results were spectacular for two days. Every trip to the local town caused huge amounts of head turnings, babies in strollers stopped crying, mommas pushing strollers stopped in mid step, bus drivers waved me through intersections, a female RCMP officer stopped me and enquired about the location of the nearest do-nut shop, little ronnies in cars gave me the thumbs up, it was good.

Two days later the rains came and SN beaded like crazy.



Eshine.ca has just started to carry Dodo products in Canada and a 200 ml tub is 99.99 Canadian. With the strong American dollar, that's about 17 bucks US. (my math might be out just a bit.)



I'm going to try it again next summer when the sun comes back to Canada but you can try it now. It's a winner on red.

:har: thats funny. Well I guess waxes and sealants are definitely a choice of each individual. I tried SN a few months back, actually around July. Was easy to apply and to remove, but I wasn't surprised at all. I can say that customers like the package but I personally have seen better results with other waxes like P21S. Don't get me wrong with anything, I like Dodo waxes but I don't have that obsession as before jaja.



I really appreciate the feedback from all, and now I'm playing with M16 :2thumbs: and will be trying Nattys sometime soon.
 
I typically like to try different carnauba waxes, but for some reason, I have no desire to try Dodo Juice. The only bit that I have from them is a sampler of SN that I received as a gift (a decent wax thus far). But in general, I'm just turned off from the brand...maybe it's their marketing, or their over abundance of products, or the name itself.

Like the NBA, there's a lot of hype and too many teams, which dilutes the talent pool and the experience :ignore
 
I tried a few waxes and not impressed. I liked the SN but the PH was not so hot. I also tried BV and not impressed. I tried there special triple soft wax Aiustintacious and really liked it. I put on a few coats and it looks real good but I dont know about the durability because I wax my car 1x every 3 weeks

I admit that I actually had similar feelings about Dodo wax. Then I started reading some of the reviews on SN. Then Detailed Image had their 25% off sale, and I picked up the same SN sampler that you have for about $22.



Thus far I have been extremely impressed with this wax. Don't get me wrong, I still think it is a bit overpriced, but at least you are getting a quality wax for your money!



I think that their idea of selling specific waxes for specific colors is mostly marketing, but still, I don't think that they should be dismissed out of hand because of their marketing either.



SN is the only product of theirs that I have tried, and it is excellent thus far (no opinion on durability/protection yet).
 
SN was good when it came out, since then i have tried Race Glaze 55, for similar money i think its much better in terms of looks, application and so far its going a head to head for durability!

Wierd...

Most of the time when I see anything about Poorboy's red or blue it's to say that either the shine is unimpressive and the durability is execrable.

Maybe I will try PB after all...

Maybe I'll try all the less expensive waxes first and then work my way up the food chain so to speak
 
I've used the Diamond White hard wax on my GTI and i instantly fell i love with it. VERY durable... that being said apply in super thin coats.:2thumbs:

Nattys Blue is one of the few products that made me audibly say "Wow".



Id say the durability is on par with any other beauty wax. Back in the day, Nattys Blue was one of the hottest waxes here...
