I have not used their Extra Cut, but I am a huge fan of their Polish for dark/light colored vehicles.

which polish?

I prefer M105 over extra cut, it was just the first thing i grabbed for last night.

That's why it is important to do an IPA wipedown after compounding. I have seen EC do it on fresh new paint a few times and was amazed how it could just fill so fast for being a compound. All polishes will fill on certain paints and I always do IPA wipedowns after every step.

Either the oils are filling that paint or you are getting a paint swelling reaction.

What is a paint swelling reaction?

by the way, i tried to call you tonight. How do you manually focus D40's?

Daniel - The 914 looks awsome!!! Did you redo the garage? Are you coming down for Detail Fest this year??

Ha thanks! I got it like 9 months ago as a short term investment however its dragged itself out. The engine is now out of it and basically being rebuilt... :(.

Yea we had to remove the floor to remove the fly ash below this summer. After that we put wall board up (or finished it), put wood trim up, insulated, heated, ran cable... everything. Once its clean again ile post up some pics.

Umm im not sure about detailfest. I wasnt planning on it because im not sure how they would react to me wearing a DodoJuiceUSA.com shirt hahahaha. Ile be down in stuart for the 2nd (or 3rd?) week of march so maybe a few of us can get together.

Looks great! I've always liked Cookie Cutters on 914's.

There should be a switch on the lens that says "A - M." If you want all manual focus, switch th the "M." That is, assuming you have an AF-S lens.

I know this thread was about 3M finishing perfectly, but that 914 looks sweet.

haha its cool, ile take compliments any way i can get them haha.

however as someone said in a class I was in the other day, "Just because you drive a cool car does not mean your cool. The car is cool but your still not." This wasnt directed at me however I chose to point out how cool the person's mercedes was. hahahah

On the side of the lense. Switch from A (auto) to M (manual). Twist the part of the lense furthest away from the camera.

Thanks, yea they look pretty cool! I have 2 sets (one is a little wide and has the track slicks). I have others on my stock 914.

(disregard the 4 wheeler, the 914 was a good background when I was selling the 4 wheeler)

as for the manual focusing. After I swithch it to manual where is the switch/level/button to regulate the focus?

,dan

I don't know which lens you have, but I will assume it's the 18-55mm.

The focus ring should be the ring closest to the front of the lens.
