Anyone have any fun automotive related projects they are working on this weekend?



I spent last weekend flushing the coolant on the Mustang.



This weekend I am going to be installing speed bleeders on the Mustang and flushing the brake fluid.

My next project will probably be new brake rotors and pads for the Mustang. I am going to go with plain Brembo rotors and Hawk HPS pads.

I am thinking about painting the calipers. Any recomendations as to what products to use???
 
I'm going to finish cutting off some pieces from my fiberglass sub box so that I can fit all the trunk plastic pieces back into the car. Once it's done there will be no trace of a sub left!!
 
installing a 3G alternator on the foxbody. :woohoo:

instead of painting calipers why not save up and add the bullit calipers with the red and pony in the middle?
 
Most of the caliper paints work pretty well. I did all of mine with a 2-part epoxy paint and they have been looking good for three years now. I had to replace a rear caliper last year so I bought a can of spray caliper paint from Autozone and it's been holding up pretty well. The epoxy is a little more forgiving of surface contaminants. The spray paint is going to peel off if you don't get the surface prepped REALLY well. You should clean the calipers as best you can either way.

Make sure to follow instructions on pad bedding and rotor seasoning. I like Baer's instructions myself.

That's some nasty fluid. How many times did you boil it :eek:

I'm guessing the brakes are a little small for such a heavy car. Either that you you've been autocrossing or speeding up and down some mountains. :xyxthumbs



I just upgraded my GSX Eclipse to the Baer Track kit. 13" rotors and BPR calipers from the 94+ Cobra. I'll be installing them this weekend. :D

And that's why flushing is a good idea...what kind of fluid did you flush/fill with? I always like the Castrol LMA, seems to last a little longer...I once did a car with silicone back in the pre-ABS days.
 
14" rotor will do it :D And get stainless steel briaded brake line, if you are going this route.

My buddy has 12" rotor on his 2003 Si with 17" rim.

Actually I didn't install the speed bleeders, just used the buddy system. I had the wife pumping the brakes while I opened and closed the bleeders. It worked out well.
 
The best thing you can do to a FORD vehicles is replace the braking system. Congratulations on alleveating that problem.
