Weekend Details - Neighbor's Lexus and Audi

So this past weekend was a double header for me. I cleaned my neighbor's two cars: his black Lexus, and his daughter's 2005 Audi A4.

First up, the Lexus. Nothing special here. Just washed, lightly polished with Vanilla Moose and a polishing pad, topped with Meguiar's #16 Pro Wax. I went with the VM because I had polished the car before with SSR 2.5 and a cutting pad a few months ago, which you can read about HERE. The car still looked pretty good, but upon further inspection, it was quite swirled, as seen in the photo below.

After polishing, I topped the car with Meg's #16 for durability. I used a MF bonnet I got from PakShak, under an old finishing pad, to remove the wax. As long as I applied the wax thin, it was easy to remove. It also allowed me to wax half the car before I went back and removed the wax. It also looked quite good, with nice reflectivity, as seen in this picture:

Unfortuntely the next day it was raining a little, so I wasn't able to get any daylight pictures. :(

Next up is my neighbor's daughter's new 2005 Audi A4. Pretty nice looking car, I really like the red metallic paint. It was quite easy to clean, just a wash, polished with Klasse AIO, topped with Natty's wax. I was thinking of using Meg's #16 Wax again, but I had washed the MF bonnet I used on the Lexus, and did not want to try removing it by hand. The wheels got AIO+SG, and the tires dressed with Meg's NXT Protectant. The plastic in the wheel wells were also dressed with Meg's NXT Protectant.

I really wanted to take a picture of the metallic flakes, but it was a cloudy day.

I always like seeing the before and after pictures when using a glaze. It can be a real benefit with stubborn paint or a misleading way of "removing" defects (read, dealers).

ssshhhhhh, don't tell my neighbor. ;):D

tdekany - thanks. i like the audi too. the paint is a nice color. it also has a 1.8T with a manual transmission. quite easy to drive across the street. :D

Great job with both cars!

I love Audis, and they have the best paint in the world! It's kind of hard, but it also lacks any orange peel!:xyxthumbs

HHmmmmm....you didn't use the VM when it looked like that, did you??:p

Good job.:wavey

What? There's a connection between dealers and defects? :D

Very nice! VM really looks like it did pretty good on the swirls despite having very mild abrasives. The Audi's paint looks really wet! :up

thanks all!
