Weekend Detail - Menzerna'd Mach1

Last week I picked up a bottle of Menzerna's P085RD polish from PakShak after Ranney told me how awesome this polish was. I think the posts here about that polish helped a little too. ;)

So over the weekend I just had to try it out on my Mach1, and wow, I think I have a new favorite finishing polish.

1. Wash - Washed with Poorboy's Super Slick & Suds Car Wash, using the two bucket method and an Eurow Genuine Sheepskin Wash Mitt. Rinsed with an open nozzle and dried with a PakShak WW MF towel.

2. Polish - Menzerna CeramiClear P085RD light polish w/a polishing pad.

3. Sealant - Sealed with Menzerna Full Molecular Jacket w/ a finishing pad. Will most likely do a second coat tomorrow, and maybe top it off with some Trade Secret carnauba wax. I may also "experiment" later and try using RMG between the P085RD and FMJ.

4. Miscellaneous details:

Exterior:

- textured black plastic dressed w/Poorboy's Trim Restorer.

- Wheels dressed with Poorboy's Bold n Bright

- Plastic wheel liner dressed with ArmorAll

Interior:

- dressed plastic with 303 Aerospace Protectant

- treated leather with Lexol Leather Conditioner

- treated weather stripping with 1Z Einszett "Gummi Pflege" Rubber Protection. Quite easy to use, the bottle is like a shoe polish bottle with a sponge applicator on the top of the bottle.

Impressions about P085RD polish: first of all, I love the glossiness it gives. I did a little comparisson between it and Poorboy's SSR 2, and the P085RD was a touch more glossier with sharper reflections. (I tried taking pictures but none came out good.) Secondly, I love how little bit you need to polish a panel. It spreads quite easily, and allows you work the paint for a quite a long time. Plus it wipes off quite easily.

Another difference I've noticed between it and the SSR is that the P085RD leaves the paint "squeaky" clean, meaning it'll squeak if you run your hand over the paint, while the SSR leaves the paint feeling a little slick. And it's cutting power is quite good for a finishing polish. It was able to remove most light hazing/swirls I've had on the paint.

Anyways, onto the pictures. Enjoy!

Only polish, no LSP taken with an overcast sky with no sun:

After applying the FMJ, dressing the tires, etc. Sunny day with a few clouds:

Gorgeous! Reflections after just the Menz look really clear!

Wow I need to get me a 'stang! :bow

Wow, that 1st pic is reflection city! I really need to get some of that Ceramiclear polish. The results I see with it are too good not to experience!

It's hard to say how well that polish worked on your car. I mean, everytime I see your car it looks spectacular.

thanks all. :)

Lee: just wait, i'll probably find a combo that'll make it look wetter than the pacific ocean. :D

Mike: thanks! that's such a great compliment coming from a great detailer like you!

How much is those Menzerna's P085RD ?

i got my bottle for about $40 for a 32 oz. bottle. it seems expensive but you don't use much. i filled up a 4 oz. bottle (shaking a 32 oz bottle seemed ridiculous to me) and i didn't use all of it.

Great job. Not too many blue cars anymore.

Is that shaker hood functional ?

thanks. the shaker hood is functional, it shakes. :D for bringing in cold air, i heard it works about 85 mph.

That's absolutely gorgeous, hirosh!

Funny how you came to try the P085RD; that's exactly what happened to me. Ranney delivered an order to me and started extolling the virtues of the P085, citing little or no slingage (a problem I'd had with the Meguiar's polishes), no swirling, no oiliness, easy cleanup, and major spreadability. And after using my cheap crapola Wen rotary with the speed stuck at 2500 rpm on a badly swirled and scratched '92 Accord, I am now a believer. The big scratches are still there, but the swirls that had been so bad they made the paint look hazy are now gone, with only a bit of barely noticeable spiderwebbing remaining. I can't wait for my variable-speed Chicago Electric to get here!

Coincidentally, I just now got off the phone with Ranney, who also had some very nice things to say about your car and about you as well. My guess is there isn't another Azure Blue Mach 1 on this island that looks as good as yours. Good job, and as stated above, you could practically dive into that first pic!:xyxthumbs

I forgot to asked on my previous post. Does it stain at all ? I know my Power Gloss stain like biatch :(

p.s. What color is it?

thanks sean.

gav'spurplez - no i haven't. the P085RD was the first menzerna polish i'd ever try.

92MX83 - yeah, i trust ranney's opinion quite a lot. he tries out different products and will give you his honest opinion about what he thinks. :xyxthumbs

did you take any pictures of that accord you did?

klnyc - i don't think it stains. i got a little on the black plastic at the base of the windshield, but it came off. then again, that black plastic piece has been treated with PB's trim restorer quite a number of times, so i'm not sure if that is why the polish didn't stain.

and the P085RD is a greyish color.

Oh my.... that first shot is a killer! That's my fav. Mustang color.

PO85RD is special reserve for my rides only -at least until the prices come down. It's one hell of a killer polish. I'd love to see some on Scottwax's black Mazda. It would blind him!
