Hi guys, as posted in the sticky, please check out our website for comments and suggestions...
Our company has established itself quite well locally in terms of detailing services since there are too many hole-in-the-wall establishments here that doesn't really know what they're doing.
Our .com domain went dead a couple of months ago and we desperately had to come up with a new site so we purchased a new host and domain (.org) and decided to spice up the site.
I used a CMS (content management system) back end to help me with this and now have included FAQ articles, basic car care info, pricelisting, service details, after-service helpdesk, forum and possibly a local online store, online booking and other services in the future.
Needless to say, I'm very excited about this since this is probably the first instance where a shop offers this much to customers in one website...
I'm sorry if I seem too eager about this, but coming from a static-site that doesn't offer much other than show your services, the portal system is really worth looking into.
The forum in the site is actually a forced issue. A couple of years before we started the business, I created a MSN Groups-based detailing forum for local viewers (we don't talk about foreign products and tools much) and it really had some good info and product reviews. All inspired by Autopia...
Around 3 months ago, for no apparent reason, MSN deleted my board and everything's gone.
Rather than creating a new board, I decided to just create a new board under our website for more traffic on our site. It'll take years to get good reviews back on the site but at least it's a start.
I hope you guys can nab some ideas for your own respective sites as well...
70% or our clients are web/forum based, so it's very important to us that we have a well functioning site.
Please do let me know what else I can do to improve it. There are some browser-related bugs that I can't seem to figure out just yet... Kinda new to Php...
