I have another thread about getting paint overspray on my car. I just recently tried WD40 on a couple spots and it seemed to work the best. I wipe the residue quickly off so its not sitting on the paint to long. I dont see any damage to the surface as of now. I will check tomorrow. Has anyone used this stuff for anything on there car before? I dont want to do the whole car with this unless its safe. There website says it wont damage a cars paint.

its fine, its great at removing decals as well

ok, but im gona try Stoners Tarminator next just to see how that works. It specifically says on the label that its safe for clear coats and car paint. If that doesnt work then Ill just use the WD40

Are there any side effects to using WD40 to remove tar from alloy wheels?

It seems that WD40 is magic at removing tar, and I have splashed on tar specks dotted on the wheels. Non acid wheel cleaner removed brake dust, but not the tar. Wheels are OEM, so I presume just clear coat alloy - nothing overly fancy.
