waxing question

i waxed my car the other day. i used some kind of liquid wax, and a foam applicator.

i think i did it wrong. the directions said not to use that much, but i felt that if i did not keep putting more of the wax onto the applicator that the dry foam applicator would rub against the car and damage the paint.

i ended up squirting more on very often to the foam applicator.

also, on a side note, what is the best way to apply wax.. circular motions or up and down ....

thanks

Its always best to go in the same direction that air flows over your car. So back to front.

If you are worried about the foam applicator scratching your car then maybe you might want to look for a microfiber applicator. I'm pretty sure that most of the online shops carry them. Check www.properautocare.com and see if they have them. I'm sure they do. Much safer than foam if you are worried about it.

One tip would be squirt the applicator pad with some QD, then fold it in half like a pita bread and rub it... then squirt some liquid wax on one half of the surface of the applicator (about a quarter size) then again, fold the applicator to spread it evenly on the applicator's surface...
