Waxing brushed aluminum dash - can I?

Can I use sealant or wax on my brushed aluminum dash pieces. It is not plastic, but uncoated brushed aluminum, aftermarket.

It is very scratchable so I want to protect it and make it a little slippery.

I think it would be fine but I'd also be sure that the product I use has no abrasives or cleaners in it.

Yes, but you should use something like Meguiar's High-Tech Yellow Wax (#26) because it is a pure carnuba and has no cleaners or abrasives.

My car is in my sig, 03 Acura CL Type S, 6 speed. It has black leather and a silver titanium trim. I added aftermarket brushed aluminum to the dash. I do not know what BMW uses but it should be the same if it has no coating on top of the aluminum.

My Bronco has an aluminum panel on the tailgate. It looks like brushed aluminum but is bright-dipped (kinda like anodizing) so it doesn't tarnish.

Anyhow...my experience has been that often wax gets into the grooves of the aluminum and it's really tough to get it back out.

Maybe yours is cleared? Just try it in a little seen area.

That sounds hot where you get them from?

The aluminum is a little trickier to install than the plastic wood pieces I put on another car. But the aluminum looks really good with the black leather. I can post a picture later.

I only installed the center console/dash and door pieces. I haven't installed the pieces that go around the speedo gauges or AC vents. not sure if I will.

I been looking for alum trim on my 1st gen CL. So far it looks like a quest for the holy grail.

Eagle One makes a aluminum cleaner, just tear a piece of wadding(comes in can) rub it on the aluminum(its filled with product)let it dry to a hase then buff out. ENTIRE CAN IS $5.00. it cleans all metals.GOOD PRODUCT
