BF Gloss, Sealant and Wax (sorry, nothing but clouds for two three weeks now)

The color looks clean and sharp in the natural light. It has superior clarity, color, and depth. I'm hoping it'll look that good on my car when I roll it out.

I'll bet that the picture of this car wouldn't look any different even if you used $5 Turtle Wax. :ignore

Guess we'll never know...cause she'll never see a can turtle wax. I think I remember my Dad using that stuff on the old "Vista Crusier" back in the 70's....

Just an example of a lesser caliber wax. That's all. Test one out and see. It's not like it'll hurt your finish. You might be real surprised.

I have a few thoughts:

1. Acrylic polymers like AIO topped with a carnauba can look great.

2. But not as great as an optically clear sealant. These tend to darken.

3. I'm not sure how well it works to have one product with acrylic and carnauba. I may try some.

4. I've not been impressed with Blackfire's other products but I will keep an open mind.

What products have you tried? And what are your thoughts/opinions on each?

Thank you..

I think you'll be pleased with whatever you use as a topper. I'm going to divide the hood up and added a P21s and Souvran to see if I can see a difference. I'll post some more picture when I'm done in a couple of days.

You need angles to really show any difference. A flat surface isn't the best for comparison shots. Do like half the car with one, and half with the other.

Hmmm....that makes sense. Maybe I'll do the side divided by the three and then do a walk around. That way I can get several differant angles. I like that idea...thanks for the suggestion.

-Griot's Best of Show, 3 coats

-P21S, 3 coats

-Pinnacle Souveran, 3 coats

-Blackfire sealant, 2 coats

-Blackfire sealant, 2coats topped with 3 coats of Wet Diamond Ivory Carnauba Paste Wax

Each of these tests have been cleaned of prior wax to new application with Griot's paint prep and a double dose of Griot's car wash to ensure a clean wax free surface.

What sealants have you used in the past? How does the BF sealant compare to those? Worth the price?

Thanks,

No other sealant at this time....The BF sealant is worth it IMO...you hardly use any so it's gonna go a long way. The BF wax is the same way. I've put 3 coats on the car and you can't hardly tell I've used any. It goes a long, long way. I think it's as good as any other top shelf wax or sealant. My real interest was to see if I could sandwich sealant/wax/sealant. And as of tonight it appears that you can with no negitive results at this point.

Did you do the s/w/s tonight? I was going to say you MIGHT be able to, since it's not like your normal sealant. To my knowledge..

Take a clear view at it in the morning, and in a few days. Keep us updated with pictures!!

:thx

Yep, S/W/S and it seems worked quite well. Clear, sharp and bright. The surface is slick as hell. It's to early to claim anything though. I'll let it set up overnight and then snap some shots outdoors in the morning light.

Thank you. And if you could, take a few more about 3 days later.

As a part time detailer, I do one car/truck or SUV every Saturday (weather permitting) - I don't have time to screw around putting 5 layers of LSP on a vehicle. Like David F said, you could use Turtle Wax with simular results. When I first got into detailing and maxing the credit card at Autogeek and other on-line stores, I thought yeah, I'm going to wash, dry, clay, wash, dry, polish, and do all those sealer - wax etc applications. Well, maybe if you have a trailer queen show car and hit the circuit every weekend. But, for most of us, a nice coat of DG 105 or WG sealer looks really nice if you've done your prep work right. Now, I'm not knocking Blackfire, or Zaino or anybody that has the time, energy and patience to do 5-10 layers, that's just not for me. I like sealers, tried the legendary Natty's Blue on my Flint Mica Rav4 after I had used WG, wasn't impressed and wound up stripping it off and using DG PBA and 105, and AW every month to keep it looking good.

And that's the main reason I don't let other people detail my cars, daily drivers or otherwise. I think it's good that you’re running a business and are concerned with things like overhead and time management, but that's not what this post was about. I on the other hand do have time to screw around with my car, it's not my business, it a hobby. It's not about money, time or anything other than my selfish enjoyment.

Thanks for your insight and opinion.

Depending on product line (JW) I could put 5 coats of LSP on in one day....thats not the point.

David B's Autopia concept is "in search of the perfect shine". Members here have different ways of trying to achieve that. They want what to them is perfection...NOT just good enough.

What are you talking about "advertisement"? I don't think anyone is getting paid to post. If so then somebody owes me a heck of a lot of money for starting this thread. This post was started to find out how Autopian's like a product. That is why it is called "Detailing Product Discussion." YAHOO!!!! ------ZOOM--ZOOM-----

I would like to see some pics from outside in direct sunlight, dark garages can easily amplify reflection, and not always the true look of the final finish. Why has the advertisement changed so much recently ?

The advertisement of this wax has been changed on both sites. (CMA, Blackfire) No more Pinnacle Soveran and no more Klasse AIO pics. Infact, most of the wording changed also. Had nothing to do with you bubba

Flish, thanks for the outside pics. Still doesnt look stunning enough to replace Soveran IMO, lower price, more product, seems like Pinnacle is still the Top Carnuaba.

Actually I've had Souveran, P21S, Griot's best of show on this car and the blackfire holds it own. I be willing to bet money most can't tell one from the other. One positive of the blackfire wax is that it's requires very very little to cover. As I mentioned earlier, I've got three coats and the can is barely used.

The unique thing here is that I've now top the 3 coats with another coat of blackfire sealant. This finish is slick and seems to really resist dust or at least dosen't seem to attract dust like some LSP's
