Wax - which do you prefer & why?

Since I have no experience yet, I was hoping to learn from other autopians. It was very difficult to decide, I want to thank everyone for giving me some idea's. I think wax like the vehicle it's applied to becomes more a personal choice. Seems only time and experience will teach me what I want to know. I ordered the Pinnacle Signature Series Wax. I'm sure after some time I will next go for P21S/P100 to compare. I envy all the detailers whom have experienced enough to know what works with what on each color and paint type and condition. Thanks again for your responses, I couldn't go wrong with any of your recommendations, that alone is many hours saved! I'll post some before and after pictures.

I plan on doing the following this weekend.

1. wash & clay (Sat)

2. wash again (Sat)

3. apply Klasse AIO with the pc (Sat) (whole car including glass)

4. apply Klasse SG by hand first, (Sun)

maybe the 2nd or 3rd layer by pc (Sun)

5. after a week apply Pinnacle (following Sat) :bigups

How long should I wait between sg layers? (Pinnacle layers?)

Hook line and sinker Steel Blue Wind Rider :usa

Generally give a 24 hour cure time between coats.

I would suggest Megs hand polish, really nice stuff for clear coats, topped with S100. Both are excellent products and not too bad on the pocket book.

I don't use any of those waxes, but if it were a choice between what you listed, then I'd go with the P21S.

How about layering, looks. I want a high gloss wet look if possible?

On your color car? Natty's or #16. I like both Paste Glaz and S100 but Natty's is at least their equal on light colors and #16 looks very wet and lasts longer than any of them.

I've a steel blue bimmer as well and 'I' prefer and love the wet shimmering look I get from VM + TS (x2). It's different from the clear wet look I get from Natty or #16 <-- both are very nice too :up

The Chee, in VM do you mean "Vanilla Moose"? I have no idea what TS stands for? please fill me in. Thank you.

I must admit #16 has gotten more responses so far from posters, it must be good, I'll have to try it and compare #16 side by side to Pinnacle. Thanks a million everyone.

[cheers]

scottabir, have you compared trade secret to the others, direct one to one (or many) for yourself?

I have used A plethora of waxes, and if durability is not an issue TS (trade Secret) is my fvorite for a deep wet look when it is topped over VM, or Meg's MAchine glaze.

It also produces a really wet look on dark cars when I have topped PB's EX with it. That is my favorite look on my black 6.

VM + EX + TS x2

Current waxes that I have are NXT, S100, P21s, glanz wax, TS, Wolfgang, AIO/SG, EX, Ex-p, MW, #26, liquid Souveran.

Anyone knowledgable about TOL's Pizazz

I think anthony Orosco did a review a while back where he used Pizzaz as a topper and if I remember right he likes it. I havent used it myself but im sure you can find something on it if you do a search for it.

Yeah, VM= Vanilla Moose and TS= Trade Secret. But don't eorry, what you have will work fine. We love to split hairs and push our faves :D

You might not need to rewash after the claying, just see how things turn out.

You can apply SG immediately after the AIO (no need to wait). On the layering of SG, the 24 hour wait *is* a good idea. If that poses practical problems, just add a layer after each wash for a while. Get 3-4 layers on before topping.

Expect this whole thing to take more time than you ever imagined, BTW ;)

TOL TS is kind of expensive at over $30 for 8oz. It should be real good and substantially different than the others at this price?

It's an expensive hobby :D , you can't go wrong with the recommendations here, Meg #16, Natty's, S100 etc

If you compare TS to Pinnacle Souveran it is pretty reasonable....less than half the price. I've been reading posts here & on DC about TS & Souveran being the same product. I'm interested in TOL Pizzaz myself.

I've used Souveran and Paste Glaz. Both are excellent but pricey. Since you don't have a red or black car, Paste Glaz would be a better choice.
