Wax Stripper versus Polishing

I'll stick with Dawn *when* needed .. I have PrepSol and I wouldn't be too excited about the possibility of slopping that on some of todays plastic parts etc. I guess this method is ok for a show garage queen but most of what we get to do *needs* some level of polishing that a simple Prepsol wipe isn't going to solve. Did you notice one post said * repair where needed* .. well most need it all over for at least minor swirling unless the intent is to fill them.

And really .. stripping and polishing are 2 different things.

JMHO.

There's a *big* difference between "abrasive enough to remove previously applied products" and "abrasive enough to significantly abrade/micro-mar automotive paint".

There are plenty of very mild polishes/paint cleaners (some of which were mentioned in that thread) that will NOT remove an appreciable amount of clear nor induce any micromarring (unless used incorrectly). And if it's used *incorrectly*, even PrepSol on a cloth (actually the cloth itself and/or contaminants) can mar paint.

I had a C5. There was NO WAY that a *mild* polish would ever damage that paint. IMO, you could use something mild every day and never have a problem. Most clearcoats are so hard that people have trouble getting marring OUT.
