This past weekend I completed the first big clean of the season. Although I am not new with detailing, I will admit that I was new with the PC. Overall I am pleased with the results, and it goes to show you that you are never too old or experienced to learn something new. The PC made it easier to apply and work in the polish, and to really get the surface clean, deep shined and ready for wax. Much thanks again to Jon Wilson of The Perfect Shine for his expert advice with the polish and pads.

Here is the media and arsenal:

Day 1

-Camaro SS w/GM Base/Clear Sunset Orange Metallic

-PC 7424.

-Sonus DAS Pads kit.

-Sonus SFX 2, 3; PC set from 2-5.

-Sonus Paintwork Cleaner; PC from 2-5.

-Clean-up with Sonus Carnauba Spritz

-Light glaze with Sonus Acrylic Spritz

Day 2

-Zymol Concours

-Annoying clean-up of taped trim (sign of a newbie at the pc).

I was tight on the time, so excuse the crudeness. It isn't one of my better pic set-ups. The emphasis here is how the color responded to the polish and wax.

Last one. Later on during the season, I'll post an update (hopefully w/ bigger pics) that will show how good (I think) this wax matures. Happy Waxing!!

Actually, it was more work than I thought. I did like the idea of it actually working in the polish. The pc itself wasn't bad to handle at all, but after awhile with the rotating and slight vibration it can numb your hand a bit.

This detail actually took longer than it did last year (I only had a paint cleaner and mild polish ly...and I did it by hand, and it took the whole day last year!). I decided not to rush too much so as to avoid any incidental oops, and to make sure that I was covering most of the bases.

Thanks for the compliment!

I found I actually spend a bit more time polishing now than I did by hand but with the PC I get a much deeper and more even polish that the extra time is worth it. Usually the first polishing step takes the longest since you are correcting defects. Using the PC for glazes takes a lot less time.

Thanks Mongoose.

Scottwax, I did notice that the finish was deeper (a lot) right after the polish as compared to last year. I believe that it was worth it in the end.

Now, there are some things that I will still hold near and dear, being the hand wax. I still feel that you have to have a connection with the car, with putting it on, buff stretching it out, etc....

I love doing this stuff, but it does take a Lot of Time!! lol!!

Mmm....gotta love SOM! It and maple leaf red are the most stunning F-body colors ever!

Most definitely. And those would be followed by Hugger Orange and that teal/green color. SOM is my absolute favorite of all time.

Funny, wax season '05 for me started with an LS1 Camaro, too. It was a Pewter '99 Z28 hardtop though.

Excellent Work!!

That's why for the first step, I'd really like to learn proper rotary technique, then save the other steps for the PC.

As for numbing your hands, just give it awhile. You'll eventually de-sensitize your nerve endings. :o

That color is just RADIANT once you were finished... excellent work. This is the first picture I've seen of anyone using Zymol Concourse wax.
