Wax/Polish Application and Removal before Winter!

Lately I've found that applying both wax and polish seems easier and uses less product when I use megs foam pads over MF applicators. Is using the foam for every type of hand application recommended?

Also, I'd like to try using a detailing spray when removing polish and wax (I hope poorboys plush is fine), but I was wondering.... at what point is the removal towel too damp to remove the wax... is it possible that that would happen?

lastly... anyone have any good (hand application) routines that will offer the best New England winter protection??

Thanks everyone

Microfiber pads are much more absorbent than foam. It makes perfect sense that you'd use more product with MF pads.

A soaking wet MF towel will still remove excess wax from the paint. QD is often helpful in removing wax, particularly stubborn products that were applied in the sun. Make sure you use a sun-safe QD though if you're working in the sun.

AIO+SG+Collinite 476 would be a great combo for winter. My winter setup is listed below.

Thanks for the tips... sounds like a nice sealant/wax combo for winter. Could I bother you to ask what you use to apply your products? I've always used a good MF buffing towel for removal, but I can't seem to find something I really like for application of wax, and something for polish too.

I occasionally use a foam hand applicator, but most of the time I use a Wolfgang/Pinnacle Polishin' Pal for applying products, with a 4" LC gray or 4" Propel blue pad (for waxes/sealants). For Polishes I usually don't apply them by hand. I use the PC with a 6.5" pad for larger areas, and the PC with a 2.75" backing plate and a Propel Turbo pad, color depending on the defects.

thanks white95 - I checked out that polishin' pal...never seen it before, but I might pick one up since I do a lot by hand. Are all of the pads you named primarily for the "pal", not just your PC?

Lastly... are you removing with machine, or a nice microfiber?

Thanks

I'm trying out AIO then #21 sealant 2 coats a week apart for my winter protection this year

when washing today i noticed that #21 seams to sheet the water right off my car instead of beading

The 6.5" pads are used via PC. The 4" pads can be used with the Polishin' Pal, or via PC if you have a smaller backing plate.

I remove every product from my paint with these:

thanks white95. Also, the towels you've recommended seem to be a hell of a lot cheaper than the sonus. I'll probably pick some of them up.

Thanks again.
