Wax Over Sealant? What happens when wax dies?

Player Appreciate!
Was just curious... if I go with a few layers of sealant and top it off with some S100 wax, what happens when the wax sputters out?

Does it just leave the sealant on it's own to protect and shine, or is there typically some kind of wax "residue" left on the top?

Thanks!

As far as my understanging when wax is done it's done. There is nothing left behind, which in this case isn't a big deal since the sealent will still be there doing it's job.

After applying wax over a sealant, it is a good idea to "spruce up" the wax with a fresh coat every few weeks. Since you're not supposed to put sealant down over a wax, I usually just do that with my vehicle (if I ever top a sealant that is). I feel it helps maintain the look longer and adds to the life of the sealant/wax combo.

Thanks for the info.

Are Carnauba-based detail sprays (like Sonus Carnauba Spritz) worth applying to paint to maintain a freshly waxed look? Or are they pretty much just hype?

Quick detailers, in general, are a very good thing in my book. I use them after washes when drying, as a quick dust remover, as a shine enhancer after a wax, etc. Find one you like and you'll be all set.

When the wax loses effectiveness you'll have weird looking beads that seem to stick to the finish. When you start to drive they fly right off. It's beneficial to add a fresh coat of carnauba every couple of weeks to keep the heavy beading going, can't get enough beads :holiday: .

I am a BIG fan of wax over sealant.

I have notice that a sealant will bead water differently, Sealants will have a larger bead to it vs waxes smaller beading. When the beading chartists change on my finish it's time to re-coat with wax.

most of the time I will do a sealant every 4-5 months and wax every 2-3 depending on the beading and weather conditions.

Good luck

If you don't like applying wax every few weeks maybe try a spray on wax like Optimum spray wax, or the new Eagle WAUD.

i second what jaredpointer said. ive used quickdetailer and it brings back the shine. its an easy process too, just spray your car with the QD and wipe off with a microfiber. works just like poorboys spray n wipe.

its like a booster. assuming you wax the car and in a few weeks you wash the car again, you can apply QD to bring back the shine and slickness from the wax.

there are many good quick detailing products out there. i live close to an official meguiars detailing store and i tried the meguiars final inspection #34 and its really good.

A lot of QD's are designed for certain sealants or waxes also .
Like if you sealed with Poorboy ex or ex-p then topped with a few coats of Natty's or Natty's blue over the weeks , then PB has a spray QD w/carnuba .
If you sealed with say Klasse SG amd topped with a synthetic wax such as reflections then a non carnuba QD would be better so you would be able to continue your layering without problem .

key word - compatibility

I like Poorboy's blue polish w/Carnuba as final polishing stage , then a wash and dry , then 2 coats of Ex back to back and another coat the next day .
Then top it off with Natty Blue or clearKote Vanilla Moose xxxx Wax and QD as needed with pb's QD+ .
For winter months Colinite insulator wax or maybe 476 is the final topper always
