Wax for Rainy Days?

Its been raining cats and dogs here in Southern California, and I was wondering what kind of sealants or waxes you all prefer to combat the rain.

I currently have EX/Natty's and while it beaded nicely the first day of rain; after that it seemed to sheet very slowly when I hosed it off during a break in the rain... I have the following i could try (possibly on new years day):

#16

#26

S100

NXT

Any ideas?

Haven't used #16 myself but i would say #16. My friend had it on his bronco which goes off-roading sees rain mud etc. and it was amazing. It looked clean after he hosed it down!

I have found that the beading typically returns after washing with a high quality car wash like P21S or 1Z Perls.

I say p21s/s100. You will be quite surprised in how long this wax lasts. It stands up to rain very well for a carnauba.

You should couple your wash efforts (even with a series of heavy rain) with a good carnauba qd to maintain the wax.

I think all your choices are very good, 2 of them are my favorites. Besides your list Collinite has the best protection available, it's just not as user friendly.

In the UK here, where it seems to do nothing BUT rain...

I last waxed with #16 on August 21 and my baby is still shining and beading today as it did then (over 4 months ago). Great stuff!

My sincere thanks to Autopia, Scottwax and of course Meguiar's for leading me in the right direction.

I love driving in the most hellish places. But the crud just falls off the shiny surface (like it knew it didn't belong there in the first place).

Happy driving guys!

Cal :D

Remember that beading will diminish as more and more dirt is deposited on the finish by the rain (a rain drop's nucleus is a particulate - there plenty of these particulates in smog). Rinsing will not remove this film. Wash an area and you will probably discover that the pre-rain beading is still present.

Nothing beads through a film of dirt but some products do resist the establishment of this film. :wavey

Collinite Insulator Wax has the best beading of any product I have used. It's also one of the most user friendly products I use.

It rained in Western New York yesterday so it was a perfect time to assess how Collinite #476s was holding up after snow, rain, 20+ hand washings, and numerous visits to a wand wash.

#476s still beading like a champ after almost 3 months.
