Wax for black...

Hey guys,



I fully cut and polish my car in the summer, so swirling isn`t an issue. I`ve been using the turtle wax platinum all of last summer and I love it! This has been my main finishing wax but I would like to change it up. I actually like it better than the P21S that I bought, and stopped using after I found the platinum.



My question to you is, what would you recommend for wax on an already nicely prepped surface. I just want a change and try something other than the platinum. I keep hearing Zaino makes a black car extremely deep and wet.



Please give me all of your suggestions. Thank you.
 
Nxt 2, Mothers FX. If you want something longer lasting then Duragloss 105 or Collinite 845, 476. Poorboys Natty Blue is very good for black cars.
 
Try Meguiar's M26. It's reasonably durable, great on dark colors and if you don't like it, you're only out only $11. Or you can save your receipt and return it to Meguiar's:D



If you feel a hole burning in your wallet, try Pinnacle Souveran. IMO, M26 is just as good, but I'm sure other people will feel differently.

As plain and dumb as it may sound, I simply just want something that will truly make the black POP! The main reason I kept talking about the Turtle Wax Platinum was because it gave a good shine, while hiding some minor blemishes in the paint.



Keep the suggestions coming, I am curious to learn more! :thx
 
Well what exactly do you want? Deep glossy warm paint? Or bright clear sharp reflections? Is your black metallic or solid?



I never used zaino but from what i hear its best used on perfectly polished paints as it doesnt really fill or hide swirls
 
Zaino would be a good choice if you want a sealant. You could always give one of the Dodo Juice waxes a try as well.



For a real glimmer check out Collinite 915 it held it's own against Royal, Raceglaze, and One of the high end Swissvax products.
 
stick with TWUP.



i use it all the time on black...i simply love it - its the most underrated product i know of (the paste).



you'll have a hard time finding something better - i find the looks similar to nxt or megs 21....



if anything, it does look a little 'candy coated' but it really turns heads.
 
Chemical Guys Pete's 53. Also, Clearkote Carnauba Moose wax for solid black. If it's a metallic black paint i recommend the first two i listed at the beginning of this post and Wolfgang Fuzion. :up
 
people are going to tell you their favorite .. you can try what everyone is suggesting .. or you can just go with your first thought .. ZAINO .. which you prob wont be disapointed with
 
The paint is just plan GM black(no flake) The surface will be getting prepped with menzerna products accordingly, as it does every year. I just came here to see if I can find a wax that would make the car shine even more, if possible. Im looking for that clear shine with good reflection. It seems like the results are all over the place, which is understandable, seeing as we all have our favorites.
 
For a wax on solid black (not a sealant), I like:



Blitz Wax - darkens the paint and gives a rich look, and lasts for months.



Clearkote Carnauba Moose - gives good depth and shine, though it doesn't last as long as Blitz



Natty's Blue - not much depth, but produces a beautiful luster; doesn't last that long, though.

Since your looking for a sharp clear reflection like a mirror then Zaino is what you'll be looking for.



For waxes Souveran, Chemical Guys 50/50, Meguiars #26 look great on Black and if your looking for a deep, dark, wet shine. Collinite 915/476, P21S original/100%, Victoria Concours if your after a sharper, brighter finish. Which P21S did you use before?



Worse comes to worse, if you have have Zaino as the sealant and don't like the look, top it with a carnauba wax. You'll have have nicely protected paintwork.
 
I used the regular P21S, not the 100% carnuba one but the "P21S Concours Carnauba Wax (original)" as advertised on this site.



Now whats the whole deal with Zaino. Im a little confused as they have a ton of different products, and to be honest I really dont wanna buy their line up if I dont have to. Just from briefly looking at their products on here, seems like I either need Z2PRO or Z5PRO. Which one should it be?
 
If you want the hard crisp mirror reflections than go with Jeffs werkstat Acrylic jett trigger. Has that exact look without all the mixing and application of Zaino. Acrylic Jett Trigger is a wipe on wipe off product, essentially a spray on sealant.
 
IINM Zaino doesn't have any "waxes" but they're all sealants. I could be wrong though, I'm not much of a Zaino-phyte. Some might even go so far as to say I don't know sh!t.



In any case, I'm guessing you're going through this because you ran out of the TW Platinum Paste, and now that it's discontinued you can't get any more of it? I'm a big fan of TWPP as well, it's a very nice mixture of sealant and carnauba wax. My inner conspiracy theorist thinks that the TWPP is probably very similar to the TW ICE Paste, which is sold at a bit higher price, and also claims to be a mix of sealant and carnauba wax. I think they discontinued TWPP to hopefully sell more ICE.



In any case, Meguiar's NXT 2.0 would probably work similar to TWPP, but it too is more expensive (you're really not gonna find a better value than TWPP). It seems to be more on the sealant side of things than TWPP. Meg's #26 is a pure carnauba, and does look very nice on black cars, but it tends to lighten the paint some. I also really like Surf City Garage's Barrier Reef Carnauba Wax, but it's a liquid as of yet they do not have a paste wax on the market (if you're reading this, please email them and tell them you're interested in one, they've mentioned they are working on one but they're not sure if there's enough interest to bring it out). It's also even more expensive, and will look closest to Meg's #26.



Wolfgang Fuzion may be worth trying, though it's more expensive.



In summary, I'd check out NXT2 Paste and TW Ice Paste, those will likely be the closest you'll get to the TWPP at the most reasonable prices. Meg's #26 is great too, but it won't look like what you're used to as it's a pure Carnauba.
